OK here's the deal!
As some of you know, I have been adding bits & pieces to my bike over some time & have many parts on order, waiting to arrive.
Well it came to me in a rush last night, (woke me up at 1pm & I couldn't sleep for the next 3 hours thinking about it), I am going to purchase a SECOND 'storm & start from scratch, doing a ground up proper job, not piece-meal!
The idea will be firstly to locate the 2nd bike. Ideally this will be simply a complete straight (read: not stacked) bike, for as cheaply as possible. KM's won't matter too much as the motor will be coming apart anyway.
The next step will be to strip the bike to a frame & motor. The frame will be going to Extreme Creations at Brookvale for an USD conversion & installing (possibly) a ZX6rr ('03 modlel) subframe, so I can add the ZX6rr single seat unit!
At the same time the motor will be going to 10/10ths for a complete rebuild, including JE High Comp Pistons, Moriwaki Cams (if I can get them) & flowed & ported heads.
After this will involve the whole frame package being sent to Electromold for the treatment (wheels & forks included)...although I am talking with Ray at http://www.easyriderimports.com.au/gale.asp about the Polished 10 spoke numbers (but this may be last on the list).
The last bit will require a re-spray with a colour (yet to be determined). #wink#
Now I want to involve the whole site in the process along each of the steps & will post progress photo's as I go. I will need info from each & every one of you on things from motor ungrade ideas/suggestions to possible alternatives to the seat unit replacement & last but not least the colour...(that should open a bit of a debate).
I believe your a spraypainter Bluey, so you can definately help out...
For those on this site needing parts for your storm, well I may be able to help you out as many OEM parts will no longer be needed. I will post a list after purchase...
The advantage to buying a second bike is that I can still attend rides on my first bike, while the second bike is being built...
What are your thoughts...am I a lunatic with too much time/money (my wifes argument).. should I just spend the equivelent money purchasing something new & not stuff around...or should I throw caution to the wind for my own self gratification & build the "storm that Honda should have built to begin with.
I think the project (that I have dubbed Project OSF) will be of benifit to many thinking of doing any or all of the mods themselves..testing the waters so-to-speak.
As I said, your thoughts or comments are greatly appreaciated...
Mono #love#

It sounds awesome, but it would have to be an emotional decision because if you broke it down, you could never logically justify spending that amount of money. If you have the money and want to do it, well you only get one life. Might as well do what you enjoy!!

That's a good point Sharpie..& one I considered at length...my justification will be two things...First, some costs will be offset by selling un-needed parts (I think VTR Stunter will be good here). I will have 3 rear wheels & 2 fronts alone! & second, Once the project is finished, I will sell the first 'storm complete again offsetting cost!

Matt i think as sharpe 1 says its food for thought although i feel that even if you were to buy a new bike it will never be exactlly what you want ,which is i think where your coming from this storm is going to say Matt purpose built suit your own sreams so to speak of performance style look i guess a one of you would call it i say go for it mate

It would also have to have it's own Post!! As for colour, there's always yellow, or you could do pearl, which has all the colours!!

If it makes you happy..go for it..screw the cost.
In terms of paint...how about some of that stuff that changes color depending on the angle and light (purple, blue, green). Iridescent? Can quite recall what it is. Saw it on a Skyline a couple of weeks ago and it looked awesome. This would make your Storm unique and prevent a major colour war.

Its called Camelion, Ashes!
Bear in mind that its going to have a lot of polished nickelplating...darker colours would look best. I was thinking something like black over burgandy (or visa versa). I like those lightning bolts on that 'storm a little while ago too...I also want OzFirestorm painted on it somewhere & several coats of clear

Mono, next time you wake up in the middle of the night, have a cup of Bonnox and take a few tranquilisers. It will be much cheaper for you. I don't think you are going to have any shortage of volunteers to assist you or give you advice on this one. Just be careful of Bluey and that movement and probably beefa as well if he wants to take pictures from behind the bike...
