Hey guys
2005 VTR1000f with 97,500kms on it.
I replaced the clutch plates and springs with a lot bought from wemoto (place in NSW) - believe they were the "Gecko" brand.
Since then, my clutch is now shipping. I was methodical with the removal of the plates and put the new ones back in the same order. New oil (Penrite 15w50 fully synthetic).
I bled the clutch with dot4 as well using the old fridge pump trick.
Any thoughts?

I have a feeling it has something to do with the oil perhaps.
I am going to drop the oil and put Repsol 4T 15W50 in it, see what that does.

Did you soak the plates in oil before fitting them ?
Let us know what happens if you change the oil.
I only live about 10 mins from Wemoto and have found their stuff to be good.
Good luck

Yea, bugger. I forgot (didn't know) to soak the plates. Is that a deal breaker? Would have thought having the oil in there would lube them up?
I am going to disassemble and clean the master and slave cylinders first, then change the oil. See how that order of troubleshooting goes

These days it's not so important due to the changes in materials used in the friction plates but I still do it if the plates are not Kevlar.
What is more important is to oil the steel plates .
Even though they call our clutches wet the oil level on the plates is at the bottom and because the clutch spins so fast most oil is flung off at higher revs.
Soaking the plates helps to keep the clutch from overheating, burning and distorting the steel plates or pressure plate.
When you replaced the clutch were there any signs of blue on the steel plates ? We're the slots in the basket that locate the plates smooth or rough.
I have seen clutch baskets flogged out where the plates locate and that caused slippage because the clutch plates couldn't move smoothly due to the notches in the clutch basket.
Another cause could be the pressure plate being incorrectly tensioned or warped.
Hopefully it is just the slave or master that needs some attention .
Good luck with it .

Long shots looking at manual
Check the stack of new plates against the old stack...maybe too fat/thin or a steel plate where it shouldn't be
As Kenmore says notchy basket no good, Can be filed but teeth here are another occasion where they are not welcome.
The anti chatter rings are directional
Spring length minimum 46.6mm. All should be even and their ends square
Busted return spring or as you say perhaps it is pooz in the system. (I know it bungs me up and stops my crutch working)

The Penrite full synth in the 15w50 is not recommended for bikes (makes the clutch slip), all my bikes run the Penrite 15w50 SEMI synth (HPR15), which is approved for motorcycles.
