Just riding my bike the other day then it started rattling loud and then the bike died I tried starting it just a loud rattling noise starter motor what's turning slower too scared to try and start it again I don't want to cause damage a 2000 VTR1000 firestorm any suggestions

It may be the Cam chain tensioner has let go. Google it to see what the implication's may be.

If so it's very likely front one has failed. If so valves in front head are bent and possibly more damage. Do not attempt to wind the engine over again it will do more damage
