On the way home i was sitting at the lights in the outside of 2 lanes turning left, in the dead centre of the lane behind banked up traffic. Then out of nowhere this muppet decides to lane split (or filter if you like) between me and the car next to me - with a toyota yaris !! He then continues to push me out of the lane as the traffic beigns to move and won his prize of gaining a car space - for all of 10 meters. I pulled up beside him and tapped on his window which he eventually opened and then i outstretched my hand and congratualted him on his outstanding achievement and asked him how it felt. After an awkward silence I told him if he really wanted to impress me to follow me to the front of the lights. His face was really red like he was about to have a stroke, he knew he did wrong. But there's no point getting upset with these self rightous idiots as they just won't get it. End of rant, over.

Classic The other day I had a guy throw an apple out of his window and hit me fair in the chest. He had a lovely old dent in his car when I was finished with him. Only because he wouldn't pull over and face the music ;D

I caught a cigarette butt in my left glove & duly dropped it back in the blokes lap, look on his face was priceless. (couldnt believe I caught it in the 1st place but it was headed straight into my open visor)

Good stories there!
I once had to avoid a car that swerved across in front of me from the next lane really quickly without looking. Luckily I was watching, and she just missed me as I got out of the way. I pulled in behind her and just shook my head.
The back of the car had a sticker on it that said: "Girls can do anything".

How about having a 4wd and caravan forcing you off the road when u are both turning right and he decides to drift from the right lane to the left mid-corner ... the stories of the near misses we have are endless i bet

My favourite near miss story is from the days of my naked XJ900. Riding along windsor rd towards windsor one day there was a slow poke holding back a line of cars and no one seemed keen to over take. I'm sitting 4 cars behind and decide to go for it. Just as i get to the guy behind the leader he decides to pull out. My reaction (and I do not know where it came from) was to shoulder charge his window (as in like your about to do a left hand turn) without slowing down. Scared the shit out of him and he pulled in real quick. It didn't hurt me one little bit as i just bounced off into a straight riding position again. Got passed the lot and quite amazed at what just passed headed home.
The whole incident spun me out a bit as i really don't know how i thought that would be my best option in that situation but it worked.

It was a Toyota YARIS... that says it all. these people driving buzz boxes instead of real cars in the name of the enviroment think they own the world and the rest of should bow to their greater existence...

How about having a 4wd and caravan forcing you off the road when u are both turning right and he decides to drift from the right lane to the left mid-corner ... the stories of the near misses we have are endless i bet Well I consider myself a moderate rider and encounter at least one "predictable close shave" every ride and probably at least one "unpredictable close shave" every 2 or 3 rides. The same applies when driving. It simply boils down to the fact that people aren't taught what they need to know or are just plain ignorant to their surroundings. As a whole, either do not know how to drive full stop or can't be bothered. Examples of which that jump to mind are incompetents that can't judge the boundaries of their car (think mid aged women in 4WD's or BMW's), don't use their indicators (err whats an indicator) or even think to use mirrors (don't mention headcheck). I also have recently seen numerous women texting / drifting in front of me or right next to me. Danger posed by male car drivers mostly seems to be to lack of using indicators and mirrors or just in a rush and taking stupid risks. I've just learnt to allow for the danger ahead of time where possible. I'm guessing we all have. End or rant ! .

My suburb has a few unwritten rules...turn left from the right, right from the left and don't give away your next move by indicating. People think I'm exagerating until they come and visit me.
Even got abused the other day for just avoiding someone who pulled out of their driveway without looking. It was my fault...I should have known they were leaving home and stayed off their road!

Son's driving lesson in the city on a Thursday night.. I look up to see a 4wd tail lights way away... between us, a black bike, black jacket & lid's tail light moves out from shadowing the 4wd's taillight line to right there! Seemed like we went from heaps of room to pull up... to nothing. Boy said the bike had actually pulled out of a lane split as we were braking and he'd seen it all happening...for the sake of lipstick or an SMS that bike could have really stained my roo bars. Bikes are really hard to see when the world is full of cars. It must be or bikes wouldn't get hit. You gotta own your road riding! Cars are dumbering and dumbering and driving them is getting worse as they simply get easier to drive. Not so long ago cars didn't accelerate or have brakes, the thing weighed heaps and didn't handle. And there were so many bike's on the road drivers looked for them. Cars couldn't merge from a ninety degree side street, comfortably at 60kph merging at the last second like they can and do now. Wing mirror glass takes ages to work it's way back to the surface. Avoid kneeing them Cars just don't care, add drivers, inside the air-conditioned opera house, air-bagged, gas bagged full of distractions and THEN they got to stay between the lines and not hit the car in front. I guess that is just too hard sometimes. Realisation that it will hurt can often really, really hurt! Thongs, singlets WTF! Then expect Joe Average to pay to put us all back together again? Accountants run this world's health/public services and of course politicians and countries. When you become an appreciable statistic you will get taxed, arrested or knocked off your bike. That's the way accountants are. They drive Yaris's Wish I'd had armored gloves and knee pads when that civic just plum forgot to indicate on that apparently empty road. I was so in the wrong, a car sitting there with a driver.. enuf PS (Who the %$#k came up with sentencing parents to 100 hours of driving lessons per child?)

I would have pulled into their driveway. When he comes up to ask what you are doing, say you are here to see his wife and didnt think he would still be home. :-)

Hey folks, I'm new here so I figured I'd share my latest lane filtering drama. Idled up to the front of the lane under red and positioned myself between and ahead of the two cars at the front of the line. Light goes green and I accelerate away at a normal pace (i.e. faster than regular traffic) when I hear a roar to my right and suddenly see the front fender of the orange Commodore (that is now sideways) coming at me. Before I can accelerate away he hits my pipe kicking the back of the bike out at which time I nailed the throttle and manage to dirt-track away from said idiot. After I'm clear I pick a safe spot and pull over and said idiot flys past at full throttle. Unfortunately I was to pumped on adrenaline to get his plate number. I've now got a nicely mashed Micron can, but I'm thankful I stayed upright and that there was no further damage to the bike. Gotta love the daily commute.

Albion Park has some beauties as well like old people who change lanes without looking and then tell you they couldn't hear you because their radio was on.
New concept in driving, don't look , just listen!

Has anyone been doing this now with the new laws in place? It still feels weird to me and when there's a cop in the traffics that your filtering I still feel the need to stop....
