Ok as some of you may know most of OZFS is Hosted by Proboards in the US.......who have been brilliant over the last 5 years! However some of the stuph you see on the site is hosted elsewhere......now these folk have been taken over by MYOB here in OZ and have given Sean and I nothing but grief since the takeover.....after recieving an email from them yesterday stating they would no longer host our stuph (just after I forked over $150 to renew) the desision has been made to change hosts. I have found a mob that have given us shitloads of room for two thirds the cost of the other bastages. Now the fun begins to move all the stuph to the new host.......que one nervous as hell window tinter and one Film and Television Editor....NOT Ubergeeks! Soooo the site may go a little haywire or may look bloody weird or may even dissapear........at least till we get shit shifted and pointing in the right direction. If any of you out there have done this before and would like to walk us thru it PLEASE PM me ......I believe the more heads the better on this one! PS if it all goes to crap and falls down the black hole then I guess we might see you on the road sometime! Andy

The Ozvfr site and I think also the Ozbb site recently moved to Vbulletin, If thats the way you are heading I could put you in contact with the guy that runs Ozvfr in Perth, he could probably help.

Ok things are moving along ok. All the files have been migrated to the new provider we now just have to wait for the switch to occur. In the mean time I've switched OzFireStorm on to it's "Dial Up" skin so hopefully it will at least be usable. The best news out of all of this is that we are going from a pathetic 150MB of storage to well over 100GB!!! So we might even be able to look at hosting some pics. You never know.

Man, for non IT geeks you guys do a fantastic job. I know a little about IT so if you have any server related type questions I may be able to provide some guidance. IT Senior Systems Engineer for about 15 years but it is a big business. Web stuff not my thing really!

Andy, it appears that the website www.ozfirestorm.com.au no longer works, it goes to the Crazy Domains website with a note "coming soon". I guess it's part of the hassles you guys are going through, but I thought it was worth reporting....

Yeah we know that. Crazy Domains are the new host. Hopefully the DNS will switch over sometime in the next 24 hours.

It all seems to be working OK. I did not notice it offline, only the images.
I have had my own website since 1994, hosted it on my own BSD server all run from home so I know it can be a drama to move things to a new provider, which I went through around 7 years ago. For us it is mission critical, but for them they do their side when they feel. At least the DNS changeover was prompt and it still works. Best of luck with it.

I am with you Neil. I have very limited function on here at the moment. The only way I can bring the site up is via an old thread that shows up on a google search. A lot of stuff on the site doesn't work either.
I must be doing something wrong.

Isn't it funny, you don't know how much you rely on something until it's gone or not working properly....

Yes a little bit of 'fat finger' trouble. All solved now I think. We can now resume normal programming. Move along people, nothing to see here.

There seems to be a number of "YOUR A WINNER - CLICK HERE" type promotions in the last few days. Is that something we report to the provider or are they pushing this stuff to us for a fee. No big deal, just anoying.... and these tend to be the ones that usually result in someone getting your personal details etc.
