Hi I have just purchased a cheap set of carbon cans off ebay for US158.00. The brand is danmoto made in china but for the price I am willing to give them a try. Have done a google search for buyer feedback and most people seem to be very happy with them. I noticed that a few people have clips on youtube with them fitted and they sound good. Anyway I will let you know how I go with them and will post a pic or two when they are fitted. Cheers Sean

Hope they are OK for you. There has been a lot said about carbon mufflers on V Twins, especially the Storms as the vibration and resonance seems to cause cracking.

In my experience they sound great (had Staintune High Rise CF Cans), but they will crack and shatter (over time) due to the pulses if they do not have an inner lining of S/S or Ali. But if they do have that lining they will not sound as good . . .

For sure, and it won't happen real fast and I did successfully repair mine when they fell apart so it's not a big deal. Worth it for the sound . . .

thanks for the heads up with the cracking issues. Being fairly new to the riding game I havent heard of any issues with mufflers falling apart. At least they are cheap as I was planning to buy a set of yoshi carbon cans and I would be pretty annoyed if they fell apart after a while. The same mob i have gotten these through also have titanium mufflers of the same type for US195.00. If the carbons fall apart I will just probably get a set of these. Cheers Sean

They also do a gp type set with tapered mufflers. At the price they would have to be worth trying. Just keep an eye on he pipe joins. The systems made with link pipes can work loose on our rough roads.

WOW those GP ones would sound full-on. They'd be well and truly over the limit.... probably crack 100 dB pretty easy. i think mine with just debaffled stockies was 97 dB... legal is 92 for memory. which is why i have a cheeky set of stock pipes for times like those

Got my cheap chinese cans all fitted up the other day. They fitted up easily with no hassles at all. I am very happy with the way they look and sound although they are pretty loud when the bike is being opened up! My riding mates like the deep note it has got now though, they used to think it sounded like a hotted up sewing machine with the stock pipes! The thing now needs a rejet as it seems to have lost some bottom end and seems to surge on a cruise at around 3500rpm. I would post a pic of the bike but I cant work out how to get it to work with my crappy computing skills Cheers Sean

Yeah. Spotted those on fleabay a while back & am genuinely interested. I am however a little worried that, as they have no restricters/silencers in them, it may attract a little too much attention from the boys in blue And lets be honest......the less reason we give them to pull us over the better...in my humble opinion let us know how you go

h Hi foxy They are straight through and yes a bit on the loud side. Not too bad though if you are just taking it easy. They have a removable baffle that they sell on their website for about $15. Just put in danmoto on google and they should come up with his homepage. Cheers Sean

Only ordered a few days ago. I would give them a couple of weeks to arrive.
The stainless looks raw so I might hit them with the buffer to give them a bit o' bling. Also thinking to cut off the end tip section and weld on an angle cut tip. Instead of the spring mounts I am pretty sure I will TIG the link pipes to the cans. The end result is a cheap exhaust that looks expensive.

Exhaust arrived. The brackets needed drilling because they were too small by around 2mm, but otherwise it all slipped together well. More pics in the Darkside. Not bad quality I have to say.

I'm reviving this old thread, mainly because I am so impressed with the service and end result of Danmotos' exhausts.
Had heaps of issues with the pipes that came on my bike when I bought it, I swear black and blue they are off an accident damaged bike, a few reasons, firstly why would you have a set of longer duration cams, jet kits and so forth with standard untouched mufflers? main reason is the left one would never seal, always leaked at the engine/midpipe, was mashed and bashed at the union bend, and had a kick in towards the tyre, it actually required to be mounted on the inside of the rear hanger to line up the underpeg mount.... So after a few years of mucking around with them I decided I had enough and last Sunday ordered a set of carbon GP cans and midpipes, they turned up this morning from china!! and then I got home from work, and it took less than 1/2 an hour to remove the old pieces of @##$ and fit the new ones, a hige weight saving, a much cleaner look, and they seal and don't require those $25 a piece graphite sleeve gaskets either... Sound excellent at idle, my son reckons the sound doesn't travel as far as the unmuffled, but home-made inserted stockers...
While give a ride impression later, but so far 2 thumbs up to the new set....

Hi guys just want to put in my 2cents worth , i am running the danmoto carbon gp's on my vtr and have to say i am impressed so far with the quality and sound . The only problem i had was one of the clamps threaded but got a new one from bunnings for $4. Mine have been on since november last year with no issues ,they are on the load side but not as load as most harleys getting around , just passed a pink slip no problem (nsw). i have upgraded the air filter and installed a sigma 6 jet kit and she goes great all in all for the price you cant go wrong .

Robbrad, would you be able to download a DB measurement app for your phone and measure how loud they are at idle and revving?
My D&Ds are utterly absurd and are around 93db at low idle. Seriously thinking of buying some different slip ons just to make it quieter. I am amazed I haven't been pulled over yet.

Yeah I am pretty certain I'd hit over 120db when revving. My ears ring after a couple hours riding. I have looked at db killers but apparently they don't really do anything.
