Morning Lads and Lassies
With the intoduction of 2 babies in Dec we had the need to get a bigger car. Finally sold the RS Impreza and stuck with Subaru and got a Tribeca. (4th Subaru now)
Has anyone got a Tribeca? and if so, what do you think of it

I don't have one, but having had a Liberty for the last 10 years I'm sure they are good. I doubt that there is a car on the market that is built as robust. Even after 300'000klm mine still feels fairly good to drive.

O3 Impreza RX .........luv that car! Shhhh may soon be a 2011 Impreza R Limited With a few goodies too. As for the Tribeca I have picked up a few for tint and find they are a prick to pull appart but they go like a raped ape! Designed and built in the US, so very roomy and quiet.......but still go like a raped ape! Complicated dash and entertainment centre might take some getting used to. More room than your average three bedder so there will be plenty of space prams and other mini human paraphernalia. Did I mention they go like a raped ape Great choice Andrew!

Well I don't have a subaru(actually got a Kluger) but I think that they must be bullet proof as a young bloke at work has a GT forester and he drives it like he stole it

It took me a while to get past the dash when looking to buy it. But I think it will be ok. You are right....It HOOTS. When I took it for a test drive, I accidently had it in a 4 wheel drift. I was able to keep it going for about 4 seconds until all the electrics made me stop having fun. Made the young sales dude shit himself.. I have been a Subaru guy since 04 when I bought my Liberty. I still have it since it only has 127k on the clock. In 7 years, I have only had to replace the clutch due to the fork breaking 3 months ago. I still have the original front brake pads in it. Then in 2008, I converted my wife and we got her an RS Impreza. Great car but with an auto it felt a little underpowered. Sold that 2 weeks ago to a 19 year old. I am looking forward to picking up the Tribeca this coming Friday. A new toy to play with for a while. ;D I must add that if anyone is looking to buy a car, don't buy it in the city. You get much better deals in regional areas. We got ours in Geelong and not only did it cost me 4k less, (than the best price in Melbourne) they even gave me another car to drive (07 Liberty) until mine is ready to pick up. A

Well, I picked up the Tribeca last Wed. It hoots. For a 1950kg car it does 0 - 100 in 8 seconds. Auto is like silk when moving through the gears, Stops on a dime and takes round-abouts like its a WRX.
One problem though.....It has to have a new audio system put into it. The audio mutes itself for 3 seconds every 20 seconds which is very annoying. The dealer has ordered a new one and should be in, in about 14 days. Strange that a Subaru has issues like this. Anyways, once that is done, it will be a pleasure to drive.

bloody hell, sounds like it'd flog a commonwhore around a track. but maybe because a track has corners on it...? make them put a factory DVD player in the dash instead, and earth-out the handbrake sensor. just to compensate for your inconveniencing... Worth a try anyway Congrats on the new buy

Worth a try anyway Congrats on the new buy It has a factory DVD player already in the dash.. Thats what the issue is... Handbrake is not a hand brake anymore. Foot operated parking brake which makes it hard to do handbrake turns now.

Is the Forester no more. Is this the replacement. My wife has had an 03 XT from new. Has never missed a beat. Practical but still fun. My job is to blow out the cobwebs each month. Still pushes me back in the seat. Has trashed a few front tyres though

The Forester will remain in the Subaru line up but the Tribeca will be integrated with the Toyota Kluger in 2014. From what I have read, Subaru will supply the AWD system, Boxer engines (diesel and petrol) but the body and other components will come out of Toyota. Toyota owns 30% of Subaru so makes business sense to have a common platform. Be interesting to see what comes of it. They are already doing a RWD coupe which look smokin hot FT-86. www.themotorreport.com.au/51235/toyota-ft-86-launching-late-2011-report

all the ft-86 is a real motor in it... i'm thinking a newer smaller lighter version of a 2JZ from the Supra. but i'm thinking 2.0L, twin-OHC, twin turbo, 6 sp manual... now THEN i'd be interested. otherwise, no thanks...
