It is 40c in the shed at the moment, never been that hot in here before.
Must be building for rain I reckon.

We regularly get 45+ here. Go 10km east or west from here and the temps plummet. But yeah, anything over 40 is enough to stop you thinking straight.
On the dyno it gets to a little under 60C inside the cars. At the same time you need to do maths on the fly while concentrating for unusual sounds and trying not to screw up and blow a motor worth half a years pay. Do all this with years of experience while people whinge about the bill.... OK. Stepping off the soap box now ;D

I know what your saying i used to live at blacktown as a kid & I can remember the super hot summers, however as Shayne can atest to the 40deg up in Qld is accompanied with anything from 75%-90% humidity which just makes it more exhausting & sticky

Yep, it was nasty yesterday, and still hot now, so looks like we are in for another one.
Humidity is the key up to a point. Once she goes over 40C then it is hot anyway.

It used to often get to 40ºC at Richmond. I had to stand my guys down from workshop duties a few times while there. We would do sport instead, down at the base swimming pool

Mind you, there is a difference to the heat in Sydney and Melbourne. While they often get hotter than up here, they don't get the same level of humidity that we get. At about midnight last night, the humidity level was 85%.
I had a swim before going to bed, then a cold shower about 3:30am. At that time the tiled walls were still giving off a lot of heat and quite warm to touch.

When i installed a machine in Ipswich, there was not a day under 40 and the humidity was wrong. You only showered to get the dirt off as you were dripping wet all the time. Im glad that plant has closed down ;D

I seem to recall that Wagga wasn't a lot of fun in summer. I spent 10 weeks there doing an aircon and refrigeration course over summer one time.

I have been in 48 in the shade, in western Qld. I put the thermometer in the sun on the grass and it went off the scale. I was sleeeping outside one night, and I had not moved a muscle for over 3 hours. At 12.30am I was still sweating. It was damn hot!

The hottest I have ever experienced was 47 at Oak Flats (in the Gong) back in 1981 My discomfort was probably helped by having to live in some old disused single living in quarters. They were just small rooms with little in the way of ventilation. Most weekends I escaped on my RZ350 back home to Lemon Tree Passage (Port Stephens). I'd head off straight after class, about 3pm on Friday and then leave home to come back Sunday afternoon.

I was up early this morning to get out for a ride, and it was 1.6 degrees! This is the worst summer we have seen in Canberra for years! Send some of the heat our way!

Heard about that on the radio actually. Hard to believe we are in the same country sometimes.
