Hey all, An update on the results of our car being broken into back in Feb. Well we got a phone call on fri. asking for our bank statement so they can proceed with the fraud charges (if they ever catch the idiots) So the day it happened we went straight to Maccas to check the cctv & were told only the police could access it. So off to the pig pen & told them that there is probably cctv footage of them, they said they would retrieve it. So upon getting this phone call on friday they said they got there 2 wks later & it had been taped over. Maccas & the cops knew about the cctv yet I blaim the cops more because there claim would be under resourced. Yet they are out catching speeding motorist all day everyday claiming that it keeps the road toll down. The real criminals are getting away with it, it takes 5 sec to book someone yet 2 wks to go get the cctv footage & I know for a fact the the cops go into Maccas Beenleigh for Breckie, lunch & dinner so 5 sec to ask for cctv footage is all it takes. considering they knew it was there straight away. we had done there job for them. I am so irrate about this yet I know at some point im gonna be pulled over by the under resourced cops for speeding & I will be expected to pay the fine mean while there are some people getting away with stealing something form a house or a car that is going to take them 2 wks to get around to it. Wheres the justice in that

Yep heard a few stories like that mate , they dont really care about a stolen car or bike in the big scheme of things , they say there under resourced but they can have 100's of cars and cops working overtime on roadworks sites , why , because they get paid a fortune by the road works mobs to be sitting there doing nothing .
I had a mate who's house got broken into while he was on holidays and he rang them and they just said yeah were under resourced at the moment just try not to touch the window they broke in through or anything you think might have prints and well send someone out in a week or so when there less busy , he then said well should just let you know also Im in a pistol club and they stole 3 pistols a 357 and 2 38's and then about 10 cops turned up on his doorstep an hour later .... they suddenly got less over resourced when they thought it might be something that could affect them down the track
Sorry to hear about your car and hope you get it back . .

Sorry to hear about your car and hope you get it back . . Oops sorry you dont know the story being that you have only just joined so here goes Back in feb I had a docs appointment in Bris & stayed at my mum & dads in beenleigh, as it was rianing bucket loads we lept out of the car & ran inside & 4got to lock it. Now the car was up a steep d/way off the road right beside the house 30+ metres off the road & in the morning we went to get into the car & found our wallets were gone so it was a snatch & go situation then they used my visa debit card at maccas at 5:30am the same day. so panic stations set in. We ended up getting everything bar my debit card back as they had dumped everything on an empty lot just up the road from mum n dads. Long story short. So car was only broken into

I don't normally react to this sort of post but I'm in one of those moods. It always seems that the moment someone has a bad experience with police the world has to know about it. Whilst my time in this forum has been brief and they could well be there I don't remember a positive one. If you are that unhappy and believe the job wasn't done look up what the complaint procedure for your state is and follow the appropriate channels for getting your beef heard. A plumber doesn't know he has to improve his work if no one tells him. As for the continual speeding and revenue raising stuff, get over it, if the worst thing you have to complain about in a day is a speeding ticket then life can't be going that bad. If you don't think you should have had it issued take it to court. That is the basis of our whole legal system after all. I am the proud owner of a VTR as well as one of those people who gets introduced at parties by his profession not his name. We don't all spend our time issuing tickets and from one who knows these are not easy times to do the work that needs to be done. I know full well the frustration that can go with being a victim of this type of crime. I love my job and wouldn't do anything else (I could, and have, before the trained monkey stuff comes out) and tonight felt like having my say. Tomorrow I plan to ride to work and as usual will have to wait for the maniacal grin to go away before I present in front of my colleagues. Cos even I love the ride and my bike that much. Should have a pre-post rant warning. Sorry.

Farkyards a copper ok then lol. I listen to my scanner most nights and if you think for a minute their not busy get one and listen in. Oh my guess when they go through Maccas its probably bfast lunch or dinner. Call me in my lunch break and im probably going to be a bit pissed off. Having lost my license 3 times for drag racing, speeding etc I reckon it was my fault, now this happened in outback QLD where coppers sometimes spoke with their size 10s lol. Im 23s years in the Army and I doubt very much if I could do their job. BTW farkyard I have a small stalking issue that im hoping you may help vanish

Should have a pre-post rant warning. Sorry. I appreciate what your saying, however in this particular incident we had done the ground work & still took them 2 wks to go get the cctv footage & like I said they frequent the beenleigh maccs so whats 5 more secs of there time. Sorry its just not acceptable that there seems to be police out in cars but not enough to get some idiot for stealing. Yes it is a hard job my cousin is a cop & 1 of my uncles was a cop till the day he died. If I knew the solution Id be more then happy to pass it on but would they listen anyway??? The cops are always saying "we need the publics help" I did my bit & look where it got me, we even went to them to get the car finger printed cause we knew we couldnt stay in town till the following day for them to come to us. If I get a hold of these little thieving turds & give them a hiding then who gets charged. Which I think I might do next time if I catch them. Then watch some dogooder parent say my son was the victim here, hes such a good boy. Oh well maybe 1 day there will be a solution to the problem but for now I think we will have to do with what we have got & be thankful that we dont live in a land where life is expendable

Sorry farkyard, I cannot agree with your sentiment here.
If you don't like the system then you can do something about it as well. You are a copper, complain to your boss.
This has happened to me too. Police were uninterested when I was robbed.
Police station was 500m from my house, they did not come to look at the premises.
I found a witness next door, who told me would happily give the police a description, but after I advised the police they did not interview him.
Even though I had a respectable job, working for a bank, and no criminal history, and there were witnesses, they spent more time questioning me than anything else.
Whether you are a copper or not, this attitude is pathetic. When you live in small towns, you know your local copper, that is the way it is, and some of them are great people no doubt about it. I have met plenty. One of them is a life long friend.
I not against police, but everyone regardless of what they do, should be doing it properly, and should be held accountable. Slack cops that coudn't be bothered, and crooked cops (had one of them too, but I sorted him out), are a disgrace. Lack of resources, or application of resources, is a different matter, and individual officers cannot be held accountable for that.

Sorry Farkyard, I have to take you to task too (and my son-in-law is a snr const as well)
Here in Warners Bay we have a big issue with break and enters and graffitti against local businesses. We also have a juvenile gang problem. What we don't have is adequate policing at night when all the crime is committed. Yet a couple of weeks ago on a sunday arvo I arrived at the main round-about at Warners Bay to find a huge booze bus, about 6 cop cars, and at least a dozen coppers investing their time in revenue raising. Bit hard to defend the Force when the decisions are made to take on the easy jobs and ignore the hard ones.

Seems I started I better reply. I should first say that I very much believe in taking the appropriate channels to air your concerns about lack of action. I know full well (I am a detective) that if it had of been me that was called to this job and I had not done everything possible then I would have cause for serious worry if a complaint was made via the established mechanisms and i couldn't justify my actions (or lack of them). In saying that I work in a vastly different demographic to what the majority of those in the forum do but I have observed and experienced the difference and I can tell you that i have it pretty good over here. Whilst if I may have a problem with being unable to do something due to a lack if resources etc most of us would be telling someone believe me. But in today's economic climes it won't necessarily translate into something being done. This state has closed all recruiting for four years and is actually laying off civilian speed camera operators which as I pointed out is a vastly different scenario than that being faced by other states due to a very bleak budget situation. If it were just revenue raising then why not increase speed cameras and traffic patrols to help the state trade out of its difficulties? On those big random traffic ops it always pays to remember that a main objective is high visibility and their will be many others working away at the crime in the background they just may not be wearing high vis vests and waving orange wands. If its booze bus operations then surely no one on this site that rides and wants to continue to could argue that they are not warranted. Whilst I can't change the experiences mentioned here I hope that I can at least get people considering that there is far more to the world of policing than the fines and demerit points but thankfully for most people that is their sum total of their experiences with us I suppose. Do I sound biased in these posts!?
