Looking at the 2008 aprilia for a next bike option. Has anyone owned or ridden one a bit? Looks good on paper but might be hard to live with. Any insights appreciated.

My 2c - I looked at these as a serious option before I ended up with the R1. They are a great looking bit of kit but not without some issues (what bike doesn't have some issues?). Do some surfing on the forums and you'll find the info. Rog also owned one and will be able to give some more insite - I don't think he had any probs with his.
Even after I read about a few 'potential' issues I was still keen to ride one. I didn't get to stretch it's legs but ultimately I found the riding position very aggressive and the suspension very stiff - this could be good or bad depending on what you are using it for. The bars were no lower than the R1 but the tank is quite long which means you have to stretch further - not so bad if you have longer arms. There were a few other little niggles like the location of the indicator switch below the horn which was pretty stupid. Find one and ride it - that's the best way to find out.

Surely that hasn't only done 1000ks in 7 years New speedo/instruments I reckon. In fact I saw another Aprilia advertised probably 2 years ago with the owner stating the km's were not correct due to him having to replace the speedo/instruments. Euro trash!

Rogers instruments were trashed after he washed the bike.

Yep, I bet the instruments have been replaced. You would assume the owner would be up front about it anyway. Just check with the RTA to see if it has been a R/wrightoff. They are a great bike but they are a single minded sports bike. I'm not a big bloke but I did a few long trips on it without any problems. Just be prepared to maintain it.
