A question for you NSW'ers out there....
So in your state, even a repairable, financial write off is declared a statuatory writeoff.......yes? These can then not be re-registered for road use? Unless you owned it for some random amount of time before & can fix it up....blah, blah, fishpaste.
In most other states, these are considered as repairable write off's & can be sold as such & put over the pits again & given a new lease on life.
The question is, if you buy a stat from NSW & take it to say....QLD, can you fix it & drag it over the pits and get it back on the road??

No , once it's been written off here thats the end of it. Apparently the rego mobs in all states are linked up now and they know if the bike is written off in other states and abide by that particular states' decision. Also , if you tried to get it insured interstate , the insurance company looks at the vin number and wont insure it either. Thats AFAIK , after going thru that stuff just before the new rules came in over here.

Some of the bikes at Meinhiem auctions are still not listed as statutory write offs ...they are the bikes that have been stolen and recovered I believe but they are hard to come by...it states that they are not on the WOVR list

Stupid if you ask me..
I dont know why there are so many different rules for the same thing, when a uniform standard should be applied. Would make so much more sense, as all would be aware of every states rules.
