Well Folks... It finally happened!
I have begun my journey to the dark side....Will be picking up my new beast tomorrow. A 2007 KTM Superduke
Sadly the VTR will be moving on to a new family.
I have loved the VTR & it has changed me significantly which is why i have decided to stay with the V Twin, just a newer model and a streetfighter style. This kind of combines what i learned on (dirt bikes) & what i love to ride (road bikes)
The other reasons are fairly obvious i.e. fuel injection, radial mount brembo's & fully adjustable suspension. Hopefully a more rounded package that can handle a few track days & general rides out with mates.
Any Perthlings out there looking for a '98 VTR, PM me & we can talk.
I like to think that i have rescued another one of these awesome machines from the scrap bins cause when i got her, she was unloved & on a one way street to being parted out. Many thanks to all on this site for your invaluable advice & support.
Soon i will drop some pics of the new girl & drop an ad in the for sale section before she goes on the open market. Along with the sale of the bike comes the numerous spares i have gathered & not got around to fitting yet.
Picking the new bike up from Geralton tomorrow & have a 400K ride home to become 1 with my machine.......everyone say a prayer for sunny skies in WA tomorrow!!! A reverse rain dance will also do ;D ;D

Congrats on your new ride!! I hope your journey into the new vtwin world is better than mine! Once back on the road, I'll be back on a VTR!!

I don’t think you are stupid. You just have a bad luck when thinking.

Welcome to the Dark Side! Not a bad machine the Duke, and should be a load of fun. I also came from a dirt bike background so I can understand the attraction.

Foxy, How have you found the Duke so far? Am thinking about these as have grown to love the twin but need more room than the storm and would not mind a more upright riding position. From the reviews they sound like a ton of fun

1WD,
the Duke is a whole lotta fun & a different bike altogether.....as for more room, i am not sure what you mean....
With the Brembo brakes, fuel injection & fully adjustable suspension, i notice a world of difference. I find myself exiting corneres way faster than i enter them because the bike just seems to want to go harder & the wider bars give me a better feel.
I took the VTR out yesterday and immediately realised the difference, the first roundabout, it just felt a bit heavier & sluggish but as soon as i adjusted my riding style to suit, i felt at home again. Once i opened the taps, i remember why i love that bike so much...after 60,000K's she still pulls hard and if i am painfully honest, under hard acceleration, the storm still comes out on top in my book.
I miss the fairing, but don't miss the brakes or suspension.
My advice.....take 1 for a good long test ride through different road conditions & see if she is the beast for you. You don't want to be parting with that size wedge if you are not sure
