I never got to do anything on my project bike over the holiday's. Too many family commitments. It hasn't stopped me getting another project though. This one is project CruiseCraft. It is an old Cruiscraft Rouge with a 70hp Evinrude on it. It needs some repairs, like glassing in new flooring and a transom, although the transom isn't that bad at the moment. The motor is ancient, but doesn't seem too bad. It has good compression and everything works, including the trim/tilt. There is a bit of piston slap, but then these OMC cross scavenged motors had that when they were new. Because of the amount of aluminium on the piston crown and deflector, they needed lots of clearance. I've left boats to my professional life over the last few years, but I really enjoyed getting on the water over this break, so I thought I'd get a cheapy and do more of it. I did get a new Honda over xmas. It was my father in laws, but he can't use it anymore. It is the reason I decided to get Project CruiseCraft.

Nice...... I recently (kinda) scored an old 14ft DeHavilland with 20HP Yammy. and a 4HP Yammy auxilliary. Goes well but is pull start. I wouldn't mind converting it to Electric if you happen upon a wrecked 20 or 30 Electric Colin......... Starts easily enough, but Father Inlaw has a bit of trouble since his Heart Surgery, especially first start of the day. Actully belongs to Father Inlaw, but reg's in my name, lives at my house, I drive half of the time when we go fishin' and he keeps nagging me to get a boat licence so I can use it without him.

This tinny and motor came from my father in law. He has been pretty crook for a while now and got really bad recently. He now mostly gets around in an electric wheel chair and has just had his licence taken off him. To be honest, I don't think he ever rally used it, even when he was healthier. I have an old 40hp Yamaha at work. I can't remember if it is electric start. I'll have a look when I go back. It is a motor that never gets used anymore, and has been pulled apart hundreds of times. It isn't something we could put through the auctions, so I might have to toss it. We have been doing a lot of that lately as we need the room and they become an OH&S issue.

I had a 14ft Dehavilland once it was rivetted together. When we were out in it it leaked so bad we had to do bung runs every hour and you had to wear gum boots in it . We used to call it the Lee King

Yes, a lot of them were back then. If it was good enough for aircraft, it was good enough for boats!

I this one is welded seats etc are riveted though..... Certainly nice and dry..Had it out the other day and a Southerly came up......no water came out when we pulled the bung at the ramp..... maybe it leaked out of the hull first ..........I don't know.... It will be awesome if you can help out with the Electric bits Colin, although I am not confident that the flywheel will be compatible. The 20 and 30 are the same, but I think the 40 may be Different. That's not my area though..... let me know what you have, at your convenience and I'll get you pics and what numbers I can..... Unfortunately the spec sticker on side has been painted over and we can't remove it without losing the data underneath as well.

One of my students in my next block of training works at a local outboard wreckers, I'll ask him, you never know your luck.
