Well, went out for a little ride this arvo. I get down the road and the bike starts to feel weird, at first I thought it was in my head and was thinking maybe I should go home if I'm feeling like this. I pulled up a little farther on to check the tyres and what do you know? The back tyre blues.
Any way I know of a bike shop about 1.5 K away that is open. So very slowly and with the tyre not completely riding flat on the rim I head to the bike shop. The slightest curve in the road or steering input I have to use felt "squidgy"
Question: Do you reckon I have destroyed the tyre, it is/was only about 1/2 way through its life? (workshop closed and only sales guys there. So bike is there 'till next week)
Of all the time riding I have never had a flat tyre so I had no "plan B". I guess I'm lucky that I didn't get it out in the hills with no mobile reception and have it happen there. I didn't look to see what the cause was either.

As long as there is no tears in the carcass that are obvious , it should be ok. Texas Flood rode for many miles on a flat down the high country a couple of years ago , it got him home after the cause of the puncture was fixed. Made me get a puncture repair kit and learn how to use it properly! Graham

Be careful there can be hidden damage in the sidewall.I spent 15 years in the tyre industry and some problems don't show up until the next hot day. They can give out with no warning.

Hmmmmm, A repair kit is now on the list. @ Calos8, there are plenty of warm days on the Goldie. Haven't heard from them yet, and no immediate rush on my side either....

I invested in a great little repair kit which fits under the seat from ebay for about $30.00. It saved me once when out of phone range and got me home. Still had to replace tyre because 3 punctures at once. Well worth the investment though!

Yeah it's the damage to the sidewalls you need to worry about. If that let's go while riding hard or in a corner look out
