About to fit braces swinger and rear sets! In position and ready to go. It's dirty in there. So far so good. Swingers gone, wish the one I bought was as clean as mine! Time to clean up the back of the crank case and shock. Fit new bearings and greased everything. Amazingly everything came apart easily and there was still some grease in all the bearings, a couple of the bolts were starting to corrode, especially on the shock linkages so I cleaned them up on the wire buffing wheel and they are good to go. I will do more tomorrow night

Almost finished the paint, what a pain in the ass, very time consuming but it has to look right. It would be a shame to rush it now . I have mock fitted the R1 hugger and now realise that I should of removed the chain guard brackets. Now I will have to relieve the hugger mounting to clear one of the brackets. Next is to drill and tap the swingarm to mount the hugger, finish the paint sanding and buffing and get the bloody thing on the bike along with the new rearsets.

Thanks!
I enjoy this sort of stuff.
I can't watch telly, all I do is fall asleep so I go to the man cave and tinker.
My goal is to be riding this weekend.

Gave up on the paint, have taken it to the pros.
Get it back on Saturday.
Will fit it with new rear sets and post up results.
Hope to be back on the road soon.
I only want to do this once, and it has to be right.
I'm disappointed as I wanted to do it myself.

Well here we are all finished! So there we have it, all done and took it for a ride over my favourite road to Kangaroo Valley and was very pleased with the results. Feels much more connected and planted to the road. Could just be a placebo effect however the susspension seems to be working much more in tune. Rear sets are good and hugger finishes it off. I got it from Flee Bay for $29.99 shipped and I will let you know what year model but I think it was 01. Had to make up some spacers to get it to clear the wheel and now ther is a small gap between the brace and hugger that I will make a mesh infill up for. Also love the precision can brackets that lifted the pipes up by 2" and in by 2". All I did was rotate the link pipes to get the right angle and I love the look. A few small diddly bits to do but I am very happy with the results. Now onto my next thing "s" Your comments are appreciated.

I'd be rapt if I can get my girl looking like that within 12 months. Congrats I'm wondering why you didn't have bobbin mounts welded on while the swingarm bracing was done? I hate angle lifters. They never seem secure enough to me.

I have had no probs with the lifter, I am in the process of fitting bobbins as we speak however they will not be welded on.
All shall be revealed in time.
