G'day guys, Picked up my first firestorm this weekend. 2006 with high rise stain tune exhaust. It is silky smooth, but would be interested to know what measurable effect yo have gotten from putting baffle in/ out ( mine didn't come with baffles for the pipes) and if jetting and dyno tune had an obvious gain ? I would love to push the power up towards the Suzuki TL1000s that I rode recently..... Then I would have the best of both worlds !

If it's smooth across the range it's probably jetted about right. Mine isnt and will be getting a stage 1 kit. I must say its not about total numbers. Its about usability and anyone who can ride will be quicker on a well sorted and balanced bike than one that claims 10 more ponies but is a pig to ride.
Not saying the TL is a pig but the Storm is light and nimble in comparison.

My bike runs better with the baffles in.
They are not stainies but I had a TRX850 and it was jetted like my storm and it also ran stronger with baffles in.
I think that the back pressure created by the baffles has something to do with it.

I have the originals mufflers in the garage and I'll be putting them on Scarlett for comparison over Christmas. Mainly because I can't get the jetting done until mid Jan but if they fix the fluffy bottom end the jetting can be pushed back a bit and I'll do the CCT first.

You won't like the sound and they weigh a ton, however if it fixes the fluffiness you know that the Stainies with jetting will be right.
Maybe you should get some baffles for the Stainies and see what difference that makes.
I love Stainies, but can't justify their price.
One would think that they recouped their costs early on and that they should now be cheaper.
They are just over the hill from me too!!
BTW my brother has a TL1000 and it's a tidy bike, but over the mountain he doesn't stand a chance. Good luck with it, when they are right they are great.

If it fixes it I'll know the debaffled original mufflers with jetting will be right although they still weight a ton. But I guess it gives me options further down the track. If original cans doesnt fix it I'll know I have other problems

I got a set of baffles made up for my staintunes as they were too "barkey" without. Short story long, went for a road worthy and the man said I had to quieten the bike down, won't tell you what I said. So anyways, got some made up and they slotted in the end like a butt plug. Killed the music and the power as I had/have a dyno jet kit to suite the Stainies as they were/are. These things made the bike feel flat, and sound souless so needless to say, after it passed the test they were straight out
