I picked up some carbon wrap as an experiment project to see what can be done in a shed. Yay or Nay?

I'll be interested to see how this works out.Have done rear exhaust hangers in the past ,but looking to do,parts of tank and fairings in the near future.Want to match up rear tail/front guard.

The carbon wrap finish looks nice. I'm curious as to what the rear side looks like...is the wrap kind of like a 'school book contact' that doesn't stick down very well at the edges? Or does it hold up pretty well? I've steered away from it assuming that it'd be cheap & nasty. Tell me I'm wrong so I can et my hands on some

Mate you can buy cheap and nasty wrap and you can pay a fortune as well. Super Cheap sells some good 3M stuff but its expensive. The stuff I got from eBay is supposed to have a guarantee in the Australian sun for 7 years. At $20 for a sheet (shipped in 3 days) it’s not that expensive if I have to change it every 3 years. It sticks very well. I cleaned up the heel guards with a polishing wheel beforehand then washed them with dish washing liquid and rinsed off with water. Maybe overkill I rouged out a shape using an old birthday card traced around the guard then transferred that plus 10mm all around to the wrap. Stuck it on and smoothed it out and when happy I trimmed the edges with a very sharp box cutter blade. I’m happy with how they look and in time I will be plying them with real carbon. Small kits are about $70 from eBay and I have a few more items I want to wrap to test before laying on CF sheets etc. Scarlett will have a red and black/carbon theme before too long
