so i bought a set of cheap bar end mirrors off ebay to see if i like the idea..... i got "universal": fit ones 7/8 "Universal fits all motorcycles with outer diameter 7/8" (22mm) open bars" www.ebay.com.au/itm/380825366115?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649i went to chuck them on yesterday.... undid the screw on the bar end and took out the the screw.... however this new one does not fit. Have i bought the wrong size or something? The screw that came out was thinner in diamater than the one supplied with the mirrors?
should something else have come out from inside my bar? all that came out was the screw, is there anything else in there? on the mirrors the bolt had a rubber end on it which the bolt was threaded onto.
I quickly tried taking the rubber off it and using the old screw, but it did not go in far enough to make the new bar end piece tight
i will go back and look again this afternoon (didnt have much time yesterday)... but if anyone can shed any light on this it would be great

so that would still be inside the bar? is that the bit that the old bolt would of been screwing into?
whats the easiest way to get it out?

If you've unscrwed it the whole way you'll have to shake it out. Probably best to unbolt the bar. You usually only have to back the screws off enough to slide the innards out with a bit of a wriggle.

There is a little spreader clip that holds it in as well.push that down, also spray some wd 40 ,might make it easier. And pull out with some multi's

When I fitted my new bar ends , I pulled out the part inside the bar that the screw goes into , by putting the screw back in and levering the guts out. But I DIDN'T take it out completely , I left it still in there so that the new screw would reach and then put the new bar end weight on. If you try and use just the rubber plug on the new weight to hold it on , you will eventually knock it off (dont ask me how I know ) and lose it. HTH Graham
