Hey all I'm a noob so go easy on me as you've probably heard this before but I just need to vent :-)
I'm in Brisbane and yesterday I was pulled over in Toowong on my 2003 'storm by the cops and was thinking I must have been speeding but he nailed me for having an "illegal rear mudguard" (you will see it in my avatar photo). Turns out the guy that had the bike before me decided to cut away the original mudguard and try and make it look like a fender eliminator and he actually did a fairly decent job, I didn't even notice when I bought the thing and it wasn't brought up or noticed when I did the safety cert.
Anyways long story short the cop fined me $110 as it didn't reach the 45 degree angle rule etc. I argued I've had the thing 2 years and had been pulled over multiple times for roadworthys and breathalisers by police without issue. I even told him the thing had been through mutliple safety certs etc but he claimed it wouldn't come under a safety cert and basically called me ignorant for doing improper research on my 'storm before buying it (which infuriated me). I took the fine on the chin but not without telling him didn't the police have better things to do than worrying about something so trivial.
So I am sure most of you would be aware of this law but for those that aren't or don't realise their bike breaches this law (like me) I'd just be careful as the copper told me they are cracking down hard on it up here in QLD at the moment and really doing a blitz on it. (Sniff of desperate revenue raising before EOFY anyone?)
Cheers and stay upright!

That sucks mate. Yeah they have been doing people for that for a while but I haven't heard of someone being pulled over in city specifically for it. Usually people get done up Glorious where they have roadblocks and pull all bikes over for inspection.
