I've done a few at Sydney Motorsport Park and since selling my last bike have been stinging to get back down. So now I've got my storm, I've booked another one for the 30th of August. Anyone going or keen to come along?
Anyone else track their storm or lucky enough to have a dedicated tracky?

I did quite a few track days and superbike school at Eastern creek on my old storm around 06-08. I learnt heaps over that time. EC is a fun track to ride on, especially when you compare it to the coat hangar (QR) which I live near now. I wouldn't say I was fast but I did ok around the corners. Didn't like to brake hard as thats where a lot of the risk was so I never cut a good lap time. I used to do all right around the back keeping it nice and flowing through turns 3-8 and get past a lot of much nicer bikes. All to have them fly past me down the straight. Even the current 600 supersport bikes of the time would ease past. Lots of fun though, I had some great times there. Once I let a mate who owned a new gixxer ride my storm for a session and he came in after 3 laps and said he didn't know how I could ride the thing at the pace I did. It was all soggy, had no go and the brakes were shit lol. I loved my storm. Same with my "new" one

I will do one one day. I would like to join you camo but I have my third child arriving in August and that could be a bit hard to get passed the boss. But have done heaps of days at EC in my race cars and street cars and I love it! So keen to get a bike out around there but also like to get a cheapish track bike if I could. Too much time and effort into the storm, just wouldn't feel right.

I did a couple of the superbike schools last year and loved them. I've only ridden my storm a handful of times since buying it a few weeks ago but I think it'll do fine for what I'll be trying to achieve on track. It'll get hauled in on the front straight but it'll do fine everywhere else. No worries John, my third is two years old now so the boss can whinge all she wants lol. If you ever take the plunge, let me know. I'm always keen. I was going to buy a cheap track bike but I found a cheap storm and figured I'd get more use out of a registered bike. The storm may not be the perfect track weapon but with the suspension upgrades it's got, it'll do me. It may even end up living the rest of its life on the track, fricken roads are getting dangerous around here.

back when i had my SV650 in 2003 i used to be out at the creek every few months...... was so good to see the look people would give when the fat guy on the slow bike would carve them up. I'd had the suspension fully set up for my generous proportions so was able to carve the corners....... shame it topped out at 180 so the straights were just painful.
All was good till i upgraded to a gixxer thou and high sided coming onto the straight...... havent been back since then..... want to, but only just got back into riding..... maybe next year.
I may well make my way down and check it out on the 30th man..... live out at penrith so not far at all.

I used to do track days on my FZ8, same sort of thing.. I'd catch and pass a few on the back of the track, come out onto the straight and top out at 235. Bout half/quarter way down the 600's and thous would blow past me haha.
At least you high sided at the last corner, would've been a helluva lot worse if it had've been coming off the straight into turn one. I've seen a few come off there and its a pretty scary sight, nobody ever fares well in one of those. Come check it out, looks like I'll be flying solo at this point anyway. The other lads were all going on the 17th I think it was?

Hey camo, what the creek like on a bike? I have done a heap of HQ racing and street registered days out there I just can't get my head around a bike going into the sweeper and turn 1? Daunting the first time?

Hey camo, what the creek like on a bike? I have done a heap of HQ racing and street registered days out there I just can't get my head around a bike going into the sweeper and turn 1? Daunting the first time? I love it. The newer section is good but I prefer the GP circuit layout...it flows better without the hairpin and uphill thing. Turn one is the big sweeper immediately off the straight and is one of those things that gets easier once you get your reference points sorted, I've never been overly brave there or anywhere for that matter haha but in the dry it's just backing off a bit and tipping it in and hoping you run out to the ripple strip and not into the kitty litter when you get back on it. Some drop down a gear but I guess it depends. Its still a hairy corner for mine but that's half the fun isn't it? The track is pretty wide so after the first few sessions, you'd be pretty sorted.
last time I was there, it was wet as fork and a few of the pros were out with full wet setups and were absolutely on it the whole way round. We were sitting up at the cafe watching them tip into turn one, full throttle knee down just pure commitment. Was crazy to watch and had me thinking what a poof I'd been in the dry lol.

Lol yeah track days are good for bringing your ego down a peg or two. I thought I was going pretty good through turn 1 at EC and one day mid session a dude on a beemer 1200GS overtook me between turns 1 and 2..... I must have been holding him up through turn 1 for him to overtake me there.

Yeah, the big egos end up binning it trying to hang with guys or running at the back. I go there for fun and nothing else. I could care less about who I pass or who has to pass me. I just run on the racing line and go my own pace, lap times pretty irrelevant to me and they'll bump me up if need be these days. I'm running in the white group on the 30th and I'm not likely to be the fastest or the slowest haha but I'll have a pretty big smile and the cold beer at the end will never have tasted better

I started doing track days on my 900 Hornet. I got passed by everybody. Even 250 Hornets got past me. I never got to grips with that bike.
Here we go group 1 for novice etc. I was group 1. My first time out on my VTR I dropped 15 sec a lap. Front straight speed went from 160 to just under 200. After our second session the instructor said he was having fun riding with me, third session he said they would move me up a group but there was no room. Last session before I went out I was told the clerk of the course was watching me and I was to ride as if I was an instructor. My times had me mid to upper group 3. I think this VTR and I get on well.
I have to go through group 2 for the instruction there. Looking forward to not have to slow up for other riders. Cant wait for summer.

Truth be told, I'm happiest riding in the yellow group(2nd from the bottom or second slowest). But on a bike I've not ridden a lot, white is the logical place to start. I'm not to proud to start at the bottom and work my way up and I'm not fast enough to run in green or red!

I went out on an instructors full race Gsxr1000 while he took my partner out on my bike. Holy crap. 180hp is fun but friggin dangerous. I will stick with my 100 hp thank you.
At one point we had a Superbike come out with us to scrub some tyres in or something. That thing coming past you woke you up.
