I went out and did see a red storm and maybe one other, although I took the Bandit. I didn't ride the Lions rd as its definatley not my favourite ride. There seemed to be a pretty good turnout and I can only vouch for the Saturday and didn't stay over night. I can't tell you what the Saturday night, Sunday and Monday were like.
I did notice the QLD police still can't let go of the idea of three or more bikes could be trouble even if cruisers were definatley a minority and the majority of riders seemed to be your average week end crowd and a variety of machinery.

I heard elsewhere that QPS rejected the organiser's application to close the QLD end of Lions Road which meant the organisers had to change their plans for the event. I also heard they were planning to have a massive blitz at the QLD border. Its such a shame they just don't get it. QPS could have taken the opportunity to work with the event organisers in a positive way to promote safety and responsible riding. Instead they treat us all like criminals and lose any remaining shred of respect that they had.

Yes they promoted safety and responsible riding by using hidden speed cameras.
Riders were ushered along lions Rd to the NSW border in groups of 20. From there the real riding began. So really there was no need to even notify the QLD police, or for them to be there. But out of "respect" and trying to do the right thing by all the organisers did.
So the police ensured every one stopped at the stop signs, didn't cross the double lines or speed. Hard not to be sarcastic.
