Not for me though for a friend who lives interstate... I always wanted to see what one was like so thats a tick off my list. It was really nice and in good nick considering its 14 years old, has full Akrapovic titanium system and forged alloy wheels. It went well too, I couldn't wind it out anywhere but the bottom half of the rev range went at least as well as my storm and the fuelling was spot on. It has over 140hp atw so the extra top end would be nice. The biggest difference was the gearbox. Very slick compared to all the storms I have ridden, just slips into each gear without and clunks or sound at all. I don't know what they changed in it compared to the storm but its heaps better. Anyways my mate was happy enough with it to buy it He's from this forum but I will leave it up to him to spill the beans.

Power is great!
Also it is relative to ones skill.
I have owned bikes with heaps more power and they aren't as much fun as the Storm.
I prefer bikes down on power that I can ring the neck off.
Just me, but I wouldn't mind the brakes and suspension from an SP1 on my Storm.

Its also all relative to what you use it for! When I was doing track days a lot on my old storm I would have loved the extra 35rwhp. Its really frustrating to overtake a bike like an SP1 or the latest supersports round the twisty parts of EC to have it blast past you down the straight, then be in your way through turn 1.
These days, I couldn't give a rats about hp. I enjoyed test riding the SP1 and always wanted to try one out but I would never own one. Its a great bike but it just doesn't fit my requirements. While riding back home on my firestorm this morning I was thinking a lot about how much I love this bike and how it's a keeper. I don't think I will ever get rid of it. Its worth more to me than the handful of bucks I could sell it for even if I get another bike one day. It just suits me really well. I was even enjoying the more muted growl of the stock pipes that I've put back on for the moment. I must be getting old haha.

I recently looked at importing an SP2 RVT ( just to be different) my dream bike but that was before I owned my storm....maybe one day but not just yet

If anyone had noticed my 'wanted to buy' ad for SP1 parts you would have put 2+2 together. Yes, Binny test rode the SP1 for me in Brissy, and I subsequently bought it . Thanks heaps to Binny for taking time out of your weekend for me. She's a 2000 model, 40,000km and a bit rough around the edges, but certainly passes the 5 meter test and the price was right . Would you believe I don't have a pic as yet - I'll post up later. It took a while to get it shipped and subsequently I've only had a couple of local rides so far. The Albury TT will be the first opportunity to get a real idea of the bike's capabilities, although I'm a little older and wiser now so won't be getting too carried away First impressions - it's very different to the storm! But there's a lot to like - plenty of usable power and turns well (helped by Ohlins shock). The seating is aggressive but no worse than the R1. The gearing has been altered so the 'tallness' is not an issue as reported by others. Worst issue so far is the mirrors vibrate to the point of being useless - I don't recall that issue with the storm. So, it's not a Firestorm, but it's not too far removed. I'm loving being back on a v-twin!!!

I agree that the gearbox on the SP1/2 is just an order of magnitude better than the Storm, I haven't missed a gear yet!
Power is great and handy as the Storm can run out of puff at warp speeds (apparently!)
Mine has a CBR1000RR front end with heavier springs and Ohlin valves, and aftermarket rear shock and is rock solid on the road.
The main thing is I feel so more confident to push the SP1, it wants to corner now....
