Has anyone used any type of throttle control namely the BrakeAway Motorcycle Cruise Control?

I just use the palm rest type and so far so good. On long straights or long rides it just allows a little stretch of the fingers every now and then

I've used a palm rest type one on my previous storm years ago. It was good for the long trips like to Phillip Island. You could just have the weight of your palm on it rather than squeezing the grip so it was less fatiguing. I wasn't real keen on it in the twisties though as it was easy to bump it when you were getting physical on the bike causing it to accelerate suddenly. Not what you want in the middle of a corner. My blue one had a throttle lock on it when I bought it. The type where you push the lever down and it tightens a clamp around the throttle that locks it in place. It was ok so you could stretch your fingers. However it made the throttle close slowly even when it was not locked no matter how much I adjusted it out. I prefer the throttle to snap back to closed as soon as I let go so I took it off. I'm not sure how it passed roadworthy to be honest, although the inspector didn't notice the rear brake caliper hadn't been fitted properly either.

I also had the palm rest type , and had the 'bump it in the twisties' problem too , nearly put me into a rock wall on one corner , scared the hell out of me. It fell off when I rolled it back over the throttle as we were coming up to some corners one day , I didn't bother going back to look for it. I now use the type that rests on top of the brake lever , whilst it does let the throttle creep back slowly , it gives my hand a decent rest.

I prefer the rest over the brake type as well bowler. I made one from an old coat hanger but it did the trick and worked really well. It disappeared when the bike was dyno'd

I've got the same as bowlers too. $30 from memory and works great. There seems to be a few people that have done what you did John. But, for the life of me I cant understand why they'd spend a shartload of $$ on their bike, then a heap more on the latest bling. Yet be happy to ride around with a daggy bit of fence wire twisted around the throttle. Each to his own I guess,

More just to try it out mate, for me anyway. Wasn't sure if I would like it and it was cheap enough to try ....I have now ditched it for the palm rest type but even that I'm not sure on.....
