Last Xmas holidays I started work on my second VTR. It had been sitting around home unused for a few years. I got stuck straight into it, and put up on stands and stripped back to frame and motor. I then got back to work, and my mate Campbell made sure I had more than enough to do for the rest of the year. So the VTR just sat in my workshop untouched all year. Luckily HR at work decided that I had way too much leave accrued, because of all the OT my mate had me doing (mainly because he sacked everyone else). I was still struggling with what to do with it, I had initially though of making it a track bike, then a naked. In the end I bought an MT, so I didn't need a naked, but my son wanted to buy the bike, so we just kept it as a normal VTR. It has a range of ebay stuff on it, and some stuff I got from members here. The painting was a nightmare. The weather was way to hot and humid. It was a real struggle to keep moisture out of the air lines, even with two water traps fitted. It isn't really modded that much. My young bloke hasn't much of a budget, but it does have a stack of new parts fitted and is all serviced. I took it for its maiden lap around the block, and it should be right to book in and get a rego inspection done now. From here on, he can do more as he gets the dollars.

Looks nice and tidy Colin. Your son would have to be happy with that.

Colin, let me know if you need to borrow those Staintune inserts, bike looks nearly ready to go! I think it is pretty right, I'll take it for another ride in the morning just to bed the brakes in a little more. Once I'm happy that there shouldn't be any dramas I'll book an inspection and PM you. I can come down any time that suits you.

Looks nice and neat there Colin , your young bloke would be very pleased.
A tip for anyone reading who wants to clean carbie parts , the brass pieces can be cleaned really quickly and cheaply with a soak in white vinegar , it worked wonders on some really old carbs that I had.

The bike is all registered and happily being used now. I had to get a certification label from Staintune to fix to the frame for the inspection, but that was only $10 including postage, so no dramas. This is from the Mt Mee lookout, and was its first proper ride, you can see the certification label on the seat subframe. We have done a couple up there now, so far, so good. On a side note. I really like the Bridgestone S20 tyres on the MT-09.
