Hi everyone,
I've tried to do a search with no luck. Can anyone steer me towards a page listing the practical differences between the pre and post 2001 models.
I used to own a 2004 but now I'm looking at another storm I'm looking at the older ones too.
I'm looking to make it makes so bars and dash won't matter, and I know about the fuel tank, just wondering if there are any other differences big or small.
Cheers! Sorry I couldn't find anything, I'm sure this has been discussed at length.

Slightly upgraded forks, clip ons are slightly higher bars, engine is slightly more advanced, carbs have larger pilot jets

I've seen it listed somewhere before but can't remember. From memory the main differences are - Fuel tank - 19L vs 16L Slightly higher and wider angle clip ons. Slightly different fork internals Updated instruments with digital fuel and temp vs analogue with fuel light Better Regulator rectifier (finned so it doesn't overheat and stuff out as much) The mufflers are a bit chunkier (newer emissions regs) Can anyone confirm if there are cats in the mufflers?
The easiest way to spot at a glance which is which is the tank decals. Pre - 2001 have a firestorm sticker on the tank, post 2001 have a Honda wing on the tank and a firestorm sticker on the fairings.
I hope this helps

So is it worth paying an extra couple of grand for a post 2001 keeping in mind I'm going to take off the clip ons and dash anyway?
And does anyone know if the regulator can be swapped for the newer one?

Master cylinders for brake and clutch are different as well.
Also I believe that the later bikes have a security system called HISS.

Master and clutch cylinders started to change after 2006 but you are right with the HISS system.

My bike is an 05 and has the latter integrated master cylinders. Also do the earlier bikes have the PAIR system?

Ah yep I think my old storm must have had the newer ones then.
To be honest when I used to own one i knew nothing at all about them, I just thought it was pretty so i bought it haha.

Engine case and fork leg colours were changed on the later ones too.
