So apparently these things are supposed to be wheelie machines, with people able to get the front up in third, even. But for the life of me, I cant get it up in second. It can power wheelie (no clutch) in first if I yank the throttle open real quick, but even clutching it in second doesnt get the wheel up. Also, gently rolling the throttle to 100% in first doesnt wheelie it, just makes the front real light.
The gearing is standard. It has a full exhaust system, air filter and jets.
Is this normal behaviour? Am I just retarded? Is something wrong with the geometry maybe?
Cheers,
Dud

The only time wine does it is by accident!
Never been a fan of wheelies on the road after losing a bike that way when I was much younger and showing off.

Without going into exact rpm and speed, maybe you need to give it some more revs if you're slipping the clutch in second. Do you know someone with a Firestorm who does wheelies? If so, maybe you could ride with them and check out their method.

Dudley, your storm does wheelie ! Practise son practise,(im no expert) Its hard to explain but if you can find somewhere slightly up-hill, ride along at say 2,500rpm in 2nd then slip the clutch it should come up, then its just practise till ya need to replace headset bearings you get caught or crash! Good luck son! I hope this helps!
Cheers Gordy

Mine is the same. First gear will power wheelie but I have never power wheelied above first.
I have never tried using the clutch but would be sure that you should wheelie in 2nd with it though since you can almost power wheelie in 2nd.
I have a young family so not really a risk taker these days!

Don't forget how tall these bikes are geared stock. I have to use 3rd gear around town where I used to ride in 5th on my Street Triple. It also pulled strongly from 70 in 6th. It had some advantages due to weight and EFI etc but you get my point.

Also power wheelies rely on instant throttle response, a sudden increase in acceleration. That's why 2 strokes did it so well because of the sudden rush of power when they came on the pipe. As you guys have seen around the forum and on the facebook pages the massive carbies on these things are difficult to get right and any changes to intake or exhaust will complicate it further. They quite often can be rich in the midrange which will dull the response. There's plenty of info out there on the best way to set them up and some of it differs so best to get reading and make your own mind up about what way to go. This thread in is a good starting point. www.superhawkforum.com/forums/technical-discussion-28/carb-set-up-24769/
