Guys I know they are an older bike now and there are better built bikes and more up to date bikes but the prices these bikes are going for these days is unbelievable. I have seen bikes with few kms on them with rego selling for $1700. That's a lot of bike for the money. Will they just keep falling?

That's crazy. I paid a bit over $3k a couple years ago but it did have some extras (pipes, jetted, air filter, ventura rack). I still feel like it was good value for so much bike in such good condition!

Geeze, tires worn? tank empty? Just get another bike!!
I guess its nearly 10 years since the last new model. So they're not collectors and they're certainly not new. And that's why I do as much on the thing myself, if I stuff it up, it'll go out bin day and I'll get another!

Even older Blades and blackbirds are cheap. Maybe everyone wants a Yamaha now to be like Rossi or Jorge. The Honda dominance is over?

I'm surprised by the value of the VTR.
Mine owes me a shit load and it's worth every cent to me.
I'm glad that people don't realise just how good these bikes are and can be.
Therein lies the beauty!
Mine will be left to my son in law when I go as he knows just how much it means to me and has been shown how to care for it.
How do you put a value on something like that?
I can't and that is why it doesn't matter what they are worth.

Firestorms were actually the highest selling bike for a number of years so there are still a lot around. Like other people have said I think it is good they are cheap and plentiful. Heaps of parts and if you bin it just buy another one. In my case the low value is incentive not to sell it even though I ride it bugger all. The exact reason I sold my Trumpy and bought this for 6k less. No guilt about an expensive toy sitting idle.
I've noticed that most storm owners tend to be middle aged fellas like myself, a lot with families and don't tend to be able to ride all the time. The young whipper snappers want the latest and greatest and a lot are driven by looks and the stats on paper. Us older folk know that "only 110hp" is only a figure on paper and doesn't mean much in the real world on the road.
I think the current bike market is probably like the car market. New cars are going gangbusters and will break the annual sales record again this year by a large amount. Even more extraordinary are the sales of premium brands such as Merc. Audi, BMW etc that are also breaking records. I honestly don't know where people are getting the money from. In my industry the jobs situation is looking very dire. My whole company just halved. My team was just reduced from 15 to 5 and the 10 who left are struggling to find another job.

My cousin rides a 97 duke 900ss, he borrowed my 05 storm saturday and is now looking for a cheapie to use as a commuter due to being shocked how good it was and the bang for buck with honda reliability

I paid 3200 for mine last week with staintunes filter rack mounts braided lines etc. great value if you ask me. also I was shocked at rego price: 111 for rego, 355 for greenslip (qbe) and 250 for full comprehensive insurance (swann). one very happy man.

Such good bikes. Love it. I'm paying about $350 with Swann which was the cheapest I could find based on age and residential location

They are great bikes and everyone that has ridden one loves it, they may not change to a firestorm but they always talk about them.

Given another 10 years, I bet the prices will be on the rise, just look at most 70-80's bikes now going up in value, going back 10 years or so ago they were worth bugger all, look at the GSX's and CB's, you could pick them up cheap and now worth a bit of money......I think the same can be said of most 90's bikes...

I love our Vtr and ride it everyday to work with it being in the family since new ... Since doing some handling work to her she is just so much more enjoyable. So have to agree the value for money with the Vtr is worth it and will hope the prices start going up in a few years. Only disappointing thing about the ole girl is the red paint is fading on the mudguard and duck tail . Just love taking her up the m4 to and from work everyday Blessing and safe riding Terry

I paid $16800 for mine in 2001 brand new with staintunes still have it now. It is in the middle of being reassembled with all parts being refurbed, re-chromed ' metal polished , repainted or rebuilt. My second 01 Model cost me $3600 last year and it's in excellent nick...top value for money. I believe that they will one day become collectable as they are dwindling in numbers. you used to regularly see 90 to 100 storms on bikesales a few years ago but now it is more like 40 to 50. I mean who would have thought that old CB750's from the 70"s and now the 80"s would become so pricey ...now that they are becoming collectable
