Hey all, I have a homemade carb balancer, I made a few nights ago and it works brilliant. Its my take on a few I have seen made by others and used some bits and pieces I had lying around. Basically its about a 6 foot length of Dexion racking with 22 foot of 5mm clear tubing zip tied on and filled with a mix of DX3 Power Steer Trans Fluid and 20ml of Powersteer stop leak to thicken it up. I used it myself and it is easy to see as the Dexion has numerous slots and holes approx. an inch apart, and minimal pulsing due to fluid viscosity. Barely moves more that 1/16 inch when running.Just stand it up against your left and handle bar and you can watch it as you adjust easily. I now have absolutely perfect balance at 1200rpm and 10mm difference at 4000rpm, I figure this difference is possible slack in front cam chain taking up with increase in rev's, (Can hear it at idle) I have adjustables fitted so will give the front a slight tweak over the next few weeks. Then recheck balance. Its a totally different bike to ride now very happy with the result
If anyone Local wants to borrow it sing out.
I am In Ashmore Gold Coast.

Also made a packrack from 2 metal folding chairs earlier in the week too lol. Wife and I went for 180km ride on Wednesday and she loved having a backrest lol.

Well done Kev. I actually bought my storm from the suburb next door at Carrara. I'm out near Ippy.
I must admit I haven't balanced the carbies before and its something i will have to do at some stage. I've taught myself how to do the jetting and stuff so that is the next thing I need to learn at some point.

Binny very easy to do and a basic carb syn manometer is very easy to make. Your carbs would almost certainly be out of sync after having them off to do the jetting and that could be the reason for the bad fuel economy last trip. The bike loves a bit of balance in its life much like we do so its worth doing

All good binny, as vtrstormer says it is very easy to do, the adjuster is very touchy so takes very little adjustment to make a huge difference. It is very easy to make your own manometer. But I am more than happy to help out. Sunday mornings are usually best for me as its usually catching up on paperwork, so happy to help. I have a few odds and ends, "T" pieces odds and ends of hose and connectors etc. I am here almost every Sunday morning from around 6am till about 1.30pm. (Wife works in Private Hospital nearby on Sundays and parking is expensive so I run her to work on the VTR and pick her up when she finishes) Kev

I bought a couple of Vacuum Gauges of Ebay some time ago and surprisingly, they read almost identically. I plumbed the hoses permanently and just put plugs in the ends when not in use. they stick out just behind the fuel tank.
Having said that I haven't had to adjust the Carbs very often. PS, don't forget that the manual says that they are set slightly differently, (Can't remember the value).
