Fitted some new cans and whent or a spirited ride today with some mates. One bloke had a brand new MT09 . I could see one of those in the Cave when the prices for a good secondhand one are reasonable . All cleaned up and ready to go. These cans are longer than the ones I replaced. Sound Bloody good too!

Thanks Kev,
I started out with an asthmatic stock standard bike with very low Klms in a fairly poor state. Lots of corrosion and general neglect. One thing that was good was the paint though.
Nearly five years later ( The longest I have ever kept a bike ) and this is what you see.
I have had other bikes whilst owning the VTR but they just didn't do it for me. I have spent way too much money on her and now she is a part of the family.
Just a great blank canvas that can be fettled to where you want it.
I can honestly say that there is not one part on this bike that my hands haven't touched including the engine internals.
I could bore you with the mods but I won't. This forum has been an invaluable source for me .
The thing that I like the most is that you can thrash the ring off this bike all day long, park it up and then do it all again the next day without doing anything other than the standard checks/!inspections that are mandatory if you ride hard.
Another good thing is that it gives my mates the shits because for an 11 year old bike it goes so well in the real world.
Every time I do a mod I say to myself , that's it finished, only to find something else to do that makes her even better to own and ride.
Just a bloody great bike for the real world with enough mumbo to scare you if you don't pay attention.
Stay tuned for more !

Whilst I wouldn't rate them as top quality they are good.
The sound is much deeper, they came with baffles that are all but useless and not fitted.
They must sound O.K as my Guzzi riding mate commented that it sounded good, not too loud and a nice deep note.
The cans are about 30mm longer than the ones I replaced.
Price is good value for what you get and the link pipes are good quality as are all the fittings.
I am happy with the set up for the amount spent.
A good cheap alternative to the big brand names.

Just to take this to the next step I always wanted a full race system. This is what I ended up with. Had to wrap the rear pipe as due to the increased diameter it is very close to the back shock. Brand new Micron carbon race cans fitted and it sounds great.

Fast forward and the Storm is seeing some serious service.
At the moment doing about 300 Ks a day on her getting to a job.
The sound of these pipes is intoxicating as they are now bedded in.
I now wear earplugs and can only imagine what it sounds like as I sail past folks .
Wherever I go there is always someone that comments.
Will be time to repack the cans soon as they are seeing a lot of service.
These bikes are soo versatile and that is one of the reasons I love it, just enough power to scare you and the fact that you can mod it to suit is a bonus.
Subtle changes make a big difference ipunlike other bikes.
Unlike the latest crowd that are great at one thing this bike is competent at many..
I travel from Nowra to South West Sydney and still see Storms on the road from time to time.
Testimony to what a great bike they are.
72000 Ks and still going strong.
