I noticed on my bike that at about 6 to 7 grand from 3rd gear up it has a miss or more of a stutter just in that rev range then clears out , doesn't do it in first and second it will rev freely straight through but from 3rd it starts it as you hit that rev range over that revs clean to redline , and if you gas it through all the gears and keep the revs up over the 6 to 7 you seem to skip over it , a little odd , jetting maybe , it seems a bit rich to me , Yoshi system , K&N filter and supposed to be jetted for that but runs pretty carboned up at the rear of the pipes , anyone else had that or idea's .

Hey Welcome Back Griffo.
It does sound like it may be some kind of fuelling issue. And considering the revs it is happening at it may be something to do with transition to the mains coming completely into play. Does it still happen through the same revs at small throttle accelerating gently or only at WOT?
A lot of people tend to go overboard when jetting because they think bigger must be better. So if it was done at home rather than tuned on a dyno or by someone who can read plugs there is a good chance they have gone too large. In addition some of the kits say to drill an extra hole in the slides but that doesn't seem to work very well with these bikes due to the sheer size of the carbies. They can be quite sensitive to changes.
If you have a bit of knowledge and can pull the carbies out yourself its worth getting them out and checking out the current state. Find out the Main and pilot jet sizes and see how many holes are in each slide. Worth doing regardless of your current issue I reckon as the carboned up pipes and richness may be a different issue too.

Yeah thanks Binny for the reply , it only does it up high and only through that small rev rangs and worse from third gear up , it seems a little like its loading up with fuel then clears it on the way through to redline so Im also thinking its overjetted , I picked up another good set of carbs with stock jetting so Ill pull the others off and Ill have a reference as to whats been done to the ones on it .

Does your bike still have the "Snorkle " in the airbox?
Just a thought !

Yeah good point Kenmoore. These big carbs don't like you mucking with the airbox. Snorkel removal or any holes made in the lid can really mess it up so check all that while you're in there.

It depends on your jetting and air filter set up.
The general consensus on many forums is that it needs to be in there.

It needs to be in there regardless of jetting. They hate the air intake being touched at all unless it's on the track.
You might find the diaphragm isn't seated correctly when they rejected it. I had mine running very sweetly until it hit the higher rev range on the dyno and it played up something horrid... but until you know what keying you have you won't know for sure. It might be that the jets are set back to front with the smaller of the two jets in the rear pot....
