Hi everyone, I just got myself a 2000 model VTR 1000, it's basically stock except for a set of pipes and manual cam Adjusters. She's a little bit Faded but in pretty good condition mechanically so it's time for a tidy up and on the road to enjoy. I do have one question I'm looking at getting the Ozzy fairings Honda VTR1000f Firestorm Fairing Kit, only because I'd like a full fairing. Has anybody got any experience with this kid please. A little bit about me, I've been riding all my life but my big passion is windsurfing. Hopefully I'll see you on the road soon.

Welcome aboard Lucifer71, good to see another Gold Coast Stormer. I havn't seen the Ozzy Fairings kit myself so can't help with that one myself. I have a Full fairing on mine but I picked it up secondhand and needed repairs. My only issue is it is very low and drags going in and out steep driveways and tall speed humps as it was supposedly off a track bike. I am in Parkwood if you want to catch up sometime and go for a run? Kev

Hi Kev, I'm Keen to catch up and go for a ride, I live in southport. My bike look a bit ratty and faded but with a little love she'll look good as new.

Hi Mate, Welcome aboard.
Sorry I hadn't seen this or your other thread about paint earlier.
The guy I bought my storm off a few years ago lives at Carrara and repairs bikes for a living. He was telling me how my blue bike was actually a purple base coat and a tinted blue top coat which is why it looks purplish in some light. He had just finished converting his shed at home to a sealed spray booth and was doing jobs on the side.
Anyways looks like you have got it sorted so enjoy!

So between yourself and Kev if you two can organise a ride and can stand to be seen with the most awesome colour - Teal, I'd be happy to tag along. My bike is no oil painting either, but as long as the sound track is there who cares! And did you say windsurfing? Are you the last one? LOL sorry, I used to do that, then switched to kite, ditched it all and went back to surfing and SUP.

Hi 1WD, I'm definitely interested in going for a ride any time. I work afternoons and have weekend off, so just yell any time.

Sundays are the best day for me as Yan works at Gold Coast Private Hospital on Sundays from 6am till 2pm. So I try to be home not long after her when possible to spend time with her.

That sounds fair enough, I'm painting my fairings today, so barring a paint catastrophe I'll be putting the old girl back together tomorrow.

I can't ride the vtr that far. A half day ride through the hills is about it for me. I need something more comfortable/upright to go any distance.(which I don't have ): Does sound good though.

Is it the bars or seat that cause you issue mate? I bought a gel/memory seat pad at Gold Coast bike night a couple of months ago and can ride all day now without a sore butt. I have fitted VFR800 coupons on mine and made a huge difference to wrist ache.

Ha ha, Neither actually! From what I can work out, it's the leaning forward, legs pulled up and the angle they are around the tank. And that gets me right in the hip joints. Its a pain when I first jump on and then it settles out, but after long periods in that position it becomes, well a pain. If that V twin wasn't such an addictive sound and money was no object I'd be on something taller. (XSR, MT09, Z900RS, superduke). But for the amount I use it I can put up with it for now.

Thanks, iv just ordered one Cool mate, I wired mine with a relay that is triggered by the park light so it picks up power from the battery but switches on/off with the ignition and doesn't draw on the light circuit. I wired my usb port /voltmeter on the same relay as well. I hid the relay behind the guages.
