This seem to be a bit of a common question, I have the colour code for the bike but but the colour is of by quite a bit, on further investigation it has come to my attention that Honda painted in a three-step paint application, base then candy clear then clear coat to get this deep red, getting first two correct I'm finding very difficult can anybody shed some more light on this.

Hi mate yes it’s very hard to get right and I didn’t trust it so bought a tank in the same colour that didn’t need painting, well not yet anyway.
It’s a three step process and not a lot of painters can do it to match the rest of the bike and that would put me right off

I've ended up going to Hart's paint depo in Southport, I was having a conversation with one of the guys that makes the colours. After about half an hour of discussions he found the right code, R157 is the right code what it doesn't tell you is that it has to be painted in 2k paint where the code comes up as a 1k. It's a red base with a tinted clear, I've got the paint made up and I'm a little lucky that I actually work in a paint Factory painting furniture. One of our paint come from automotive industry he's gonna shoot my panels on Monday so with a little bit of luck it should be a pretty good match but time will tell. Once I've got the pedals fitted back to the bike I'll post some photos and if it matches I'll put the exact code and the number of tinted clear coats needed to get the right match.

Well the paint is finished, it looks a shad more red than the tank. I will buff the tank and see if that brings it a little closer but I'm happy. If I was to do it again I would put an extra tinted clear on Looks good mate
