I've seen in the news people getting fines from people's dash cams. Two bike riders and a bloke in a car in SA charged with not keeping left and overtaking on double lines. What chance do we have of going for a ride and coming home with a license

Yeah it's getting bad. I just couldn't be arsed riding on the road any more. Had an incident earlier this year where a caravanner handed in dashcam footage of our group overtaking him. Half of us got done for overtaking on a unbroken line. Why did we do that? Because he was holding us up on the hills but swerving all over the place and crossing the centre line on the corners. He also had some sort of liquid leaking out of his caravan. So we got past him as soon as we could. There was a cop at the top of the range that was making himself useful making sure people stopped at the stop sign. He showed him the footage. Only the bits he wanted the cop to see of course.

That sucks. Now if your guys had footage of him all over the road and handed that in, A. he'd think twice about dobbing in others. or, and more likely, B. the cops would dismiss it.

I hate the fuggin things but do wonder if they would make a good bike camera ?
I tend to check cars for dash cams before I do anything crazy, not always practical but worthwhile if you do.
I wonder what the legal perspective is about being filmed without your permission by a private individual?

I wonder what the legal perspective is about being filmed without your permission by a private individual? In a public place you have no rights/grounds for objection unless they are making commercial gains from the footage, obviously that excludes the infringement income.
