I wouldn’t think so. Get some heat shield matting from super cheap. This should sort the issue.

Thanks Stormer', I didn't know such a product existed. Looks like it will do the trick. Happy New year!

Macca where’d you get that one? Is it the NZ moriwaki copy that you have to make the brackets for? It looks perfect, it’s exaxtly the style I’m after. Have you got a link?

I have my pipes wrapped and have heat shield matting inside my lower fairing it still gets hot but since I re-did the heat shield matting it hasn't damaged the paint again

Yep, it's the NZ moriwaki copy. I got brackets for a real moriwaki pan from Japan online, but only three out of four of them live up with the bolt holes on the NZ pan, so I had to put a new hole in for the fourth one. When fitting according to the Japanese instructions, they just don't line up, so either the pan or brackets must be for something other than a stock vtr1000f! I'll dig around my inbox and post some links and pics. Macca

Here's the custom brackets that NZ fairings suggest I have fabricated (I ended up buying actual moriwaki ones since I couldn't fabricate these). Also, the bellypan was $250 and freight $80 NZ. The brackets I bought were from japan.webike.net Under Cowl Bracket Set STREET (Item No: 612-158-0000 ) is a set contains parts No2 through No7. As I said, the brackets I bought from webike simply don't align properly with the NZ pan, so I had to flip some and even then one hole still didn't line up. I can take photos of how things end up in detail if need be. Cheers Macca

Bloody legend, that’s exactly what I need. Got some stainless plate at home, perfect for this. I’ll buy the NZ model and just fab the brackets with your information. Thanks matey
