Having dropped the storm on a right hand u turn on a steep hill quite a while ago (god damnit), I bent the Christ out of the right clip and I couldn’t stand it any longer. Got on to a wrecker who wanted $75 EACH for new bars, I only needed one but thought if it was $75 I might as well just go aftermarket. Well I got the vortex clipons brand new delivered for $200 so pretty happy with that.
Now my issue is that I’ve got an 05 Firestorm with the solid black rectangular reservoirs but the shape them is only suitable for the stock clipons, so I can’t fit them and everything else on the new vortex ones. Pretty bummed, but silver lining is that if I upgrade the brake master cylinder and reservoir along with clutch master and reservoir to the plastic tubs on an aluminium perch, it very much looks like I’ll be able to get everything on the bars. I thought this would be a good time to arrange a front brake upgrade so that the calipers match the new lever with master and reservoir, and then I’ll just need to source a suitable clutch master and reservoir w perch....
I’m looking for f4i calipers, but has anyone swapped out their clutch lever for a sportsbike of similar era clutch lever, master and reservoir? What’d you use? I’m not sure what other Honda’s from around that time had hydraulic clutches? I might be better off getting a Brembo radial kit with lever, master, reservoir and perch but it’s $380, or $700 for brake and clutch together. I’d much rather do it on the cheap.
The vortex clipons look great, and they’re two piece so hopefully if it falls over again it’ll just bend the bar and I can replace that for $20 instead of a whole new clip on. Good.

Hi Steve, I still have the CBR calipers I bought of Griffo last year. I never got around to fitting them before I sold the bike. You can have them for $50 (plus postage) which is what I paid for them. From what I hear that is a bargain. They look in really good nick.
