Hello all, I am looking to purchase a Firestorm. This would be an ideal example: www.bikesales.com.au/bikes/details/2006-Honda-VTR1000F-(Firestorm)/SSE-AD-5199620However, I currently own a BMW R1200RT, ex-police. This needs to go, either sold or swapped. Anyone out there who can help would be appreciated. Thank you, Larry UPDATE: Just found a Firestorm owner (now ex-owner) who was happy to swap for the BMW.Now the proud owner of a 1997 VTR1000F. Not my preferred choice as I was looking for a later model. Thank you, Larry

Don't pay $7K for a Storm. Don't get me wrong, I've had two and I bloody love them, but they're not worth $7K. Don't let the low klms entice you. They aren't worn out at 150,000klms. So look for one by overall condition and a lower price. They were the highest selling road bike in Australia for a few years, so there's heaps of them around. After living with an R1200RT the Storm will feel like a bmx bike by comparison.

Thanks for the reply Von. Yes $7K is a bit steep, but it was more using he ad as an example. Plus, being in Bundaberg he might come down. After having had a hiatus from M/C, in 2010 I purchased a K1200S BMW. This thing was insane. Tried to slow things down and being a fan of Ducatis, I bought a Monster 1200S. Very uncomfortable bike. Promptly sold it. Then traded the K12 on the RT12. Once again not quite my cup of tea. Having owned a number of bevel drive Ducatis, I think the Firestorm might fit the bill. Considered Suzuki's TL but I think the Storm would be better. Unless I find someone who wants to swap, I will have to wait until the RT is sold.

It has remus pipes, tank bag, gearsack bag, near new tyres, red in colour in excellent condition and rear stand. My price would be $7000. Yes you can buy cheaper but there are not too many in the country with low klms. When I buy any cars or bikes secondhand I prefer to chase low klms before low price. For a few thousand dollars more you may avoid the previous owners problems and less wear and tear. Redbook pricing for private sale for my bike is $7200 Just my opinion.
