Well,
I have had my VTR for about 7 years now and at 62 I am thinking a new bike would be fun.( I think I deserve it )
Before I continue,
I will not be selling the Storm, It will be ridden and enjoyed as well ( Caveat here . If If I happen to wake up feeling Chipper I know what I will be riding )
I have been looking at the Royal Enfield GT 650.
With a 270 degree crank the nuances are there as well as some unleashed power and torque.
Better forks USD ,better brakes ,better exhaust, better back shock , just like the Storm.
Like the VTR the list of mods would be extensive.
Anyone else on here been scoping the Enfield ?
Looks the goods and a great price.
If I buy one it will be Used so I might have to wait a while as they are pretty new to the market here in OZ.

How did you go with this? Has an Enfield materialised for you? I'm just back from India and a three week trip on a 500 Bullet. It's a pretty basic machine but I think the GT would be higher spec. We saw quite a few GTs in Delhi but none in the rural areas. Spose they're too expensive for Indian farmers. I was impressed by the indestructible build of the bullet. We drove those poor bikes on some shyte roads too. If you do go with a GT there are fecking heaps of accessories for sale in India. Maybe a combined holiday and parts acquisition trip?

I have made my mind up to get one.
It's not an immediate need however if a good secondhand one comes along I could be tempted.
I have ridden the bike and it is fit for purpose.
Compared to the old Triumphs that I ride it is a revelation.
Just a matter of time.

This has turned up in the Cave. I could be distracted for a while. It is a 96 ex Police bike that was given to me. In a sad state but in typical Honda fashion it's all there and running. The front brakes were seized from sitting got so long. Its no Storm but an interesting bike all the same.

been out of action for a while guys, sorry about the absence. my firestorms having a shit time at the moment, the HID headlight ran like a dream for so long and now its not working and I've yet to find the problem. I went overseas and rego lapsed so I need to get the tool box out and figure this out because I bloody love that bike...
in other news, my mate overstayed his visa and got a DNF for three years, and he's left me the keys to his SP1 while he's gone! what a bloke eh? tomorrows task is to clean the garage up and make room for my firestorms new and angrier younger brother, the RC51... photos to come! its a pearler, around 40k clicks, new tyres, new chain and sprockets, forks serviced, runs like a peach. if that peach had a farktonne of torque on tap and an incredible sounding exhaust haha

Hoely old threads. I have fond memories of the ST1100 headlight in the rear view mirrors. I got stopped several times by QLD coppers on those back in my younger years.... They were always understanding of a young bloke doin 150 in suburban areas, truth be told -I think they liked the chase, lol. As for the RC51 pics, c'mon, lol.
