Hello,
I have a 2002 that I picked up recently. The bike is stock, clean and runs very well, but the maintenance hasn't been kept up on it. I've replaced all of the fluids (except forks/shock), and replaced just about all of the consumables (except a chain and sprocket set as they look OK to me). I've found the rear sprocket has a little play in it. It can be turned clockwise/counter clockwise approx 1 - 2 mm. The nuts that hold the sprocket to the driven flange are tight. Is this normal? Does this indicate that a new damper rubber set is required? I've search this and other forums, and the service manual but I haven't been able to find anything on this topic, possibly because the play shouldn't exist??
Thank you Ben

Yes mate that forward and back play indicates the drive rubbers are worn.
