Was just reading a thread about someone giving out the wrong domain to a prospective stormer (they added the .au) I know if im typing it in that i almost automatically add the .au Had a look here www.smartyhost.com.au/cheapdomainnames.html and it seems you can register www.ozfirestorm.com.au for $79 for two years. If the admins want i'll happily throw in a few dosh ;D so that they can redirect it here Might give us a better presence on google, anzwers and so forth. Interested?? Not interested?? Just a thought, Saz

Thanks Saz I had a look at the .au thingy when I set up the .com, my initial thought were that with the au on the end of it Overseas riders might just shy away from it. Also not knowing how big this thing would become or if it would take off at all I was only sinking minimum dollars into it so the .com was purchased for two years but I will look at it when it comes up for renewal.

Why not have both? ? I'm sure there's enough suckers (me included) that'll chip in for the site.

There is a slight problem here...quite a few of us have .com stickers on our bikes/cars/whatever also the 1000 buisness cards that have just been printed and sent out Not to mention the behind the scenes arrangements happening at this time(if I tell ya I'll have ta kill ya). That being said if the purchase of the .au domain was to keep the domain out of other peoples hands then by all means yeah go for it. Too much has happened and is in the pipeline for me to change to .au at present.

But I can see the sense in owning the .au incase of the odd slip up when trying to get others onto the site so If you like I will bang heads with the Admin later tonight and see if we do purchase the .au weather we can redirect all traffic to the .com.....blahhh all these bloody dots ay

Can't you just make the .au redirect to this one?...just means that if people type it in with an .au they still get here. Just needs a redirect on the index of the .au site. Will also mean that existing cards etc will be right as the site will still be without the .au

Registering a .com.au is not as easy as you all think. You can't just apply and that's it. You have to meet certain elligibility criteria first, before you can register a .com.au www.auda.org.au/policies/auda-2005-01/ SCHEDULE C ELIGIBILITY AND ALLOCATION RULES FOR COM.AU The com.au 2LD is for commercial purposes. The following rules are to be read in conjunction with the Eligibility and Allocation Rules for All Open 2LDs, contained in Schedule A of this document. 1. To be eligible for a domain name in the com.au 2LD, registrants must be: a) an Australian registered company; or b) trading under a registered business name in any Australian State or Territory; or c) an Australian partnership or sole trader; d) a foreign company licensed to trade in Australia; or e) an owner of an Australian Registered Trade Mark; or f) an applicant for an Australian Registered Trade Mark ; or g) an association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory; or h) an Australian commercial statutory body. 2. Domain names in the com.au 2LD must: a) exactly match, acronym or abbreviation of the registrant’s company or trading name, organization or association name or trademark; or: b) be otherwise closely and substantially connected to the registrant.
