So I did! ;D
Had a friend message me over ICQ this morning, asking if I felt like going for a run. Let's see.......
1. No work today.
2. Top day weather wise.
3. Bike sitting idle in the garage.
4. Kidlet off to school.
I didn't need much convincing.
So off we went (friend was riding his wife's brand spankers SV1000s with Staintunes - only 550 kms on the dial at the start of the ride) from Narre South into Berwick. Turned left towards Emerald, then off towards Worri Yallock, doodleatoo, Warburton and the Reefton Spur.
It's amazing what a difference a weekday makes to the traffic levels. The very few cars and trucks we encountered were quickly and easily passed, leaving most of the roads clear to play.
Although when I say clear, that's not taking into account the amount of debris the trees had dumped on the roads in the high winds. At one point I had to get off the bike and remove a large gum tree branch that was blocking the entire road.
Picking our way through the sticks, bark and leaves was interesting, and we both had moments with either the front or rear wheels running over twigs mid corner, providing plenty of pucker factor.
From the Reefton we headed to Marysville for lunch and noticed the local cop station had a blue VTR parked in it's driveway. It left with a friendly wave from the copper so we might have to ask the constabulary who the guy is and give him an OzFirestorm card!
We then wound our way down the now glorious Black Spur, and with it being clear of cars, trucks and tree matter we had a ball. I have now finally reached the edge of my tyres............only on the left side mind you. The right side has a mm or 2 to go.
From Healesville we headed back towards Yarra Junction and Woori Yallock, through to Pakenham and then home.
Shame you lot missed it. Hehehehe
