I was looking at doing a bafflectomy, but decided it was better to fork out the $1250 odd for high mount StainTunes. Much better sound! And i can always put the originals back on if i need to on a track day or something (or the EPA decide that i should ) I too spent alot of my dosh (and the banks) to get my baby but i reckon it is well worth the after market cans!

VtrBob has done the baffle thingy. Maybe pm him. I've ridden with him and there is definately a difference in sound, mine has Microns. Better than nothing but not as good as aftermarkets...

there is a mob in sydney that do exchange pipes they give you a set that they cut open gut then put them back together cost is about $500 it's better than just doing it yourself cause they open them up all the way not just at the end .Have you tried the wreckers a guy I rode with got high rise pipes off a wrecked bike for $60 no damage on the pipes looks great and sounds heaps better than stock. If you are in NSW or traveling to NSW make sure you get the EPA sticker and have it engraved to say 94db otherwise it is a $200 fine

yellowtwin - i thought about sending them away casue i have seen an add in AMCN that a guy will do them for $200 + postage. then i saw the 'bafflectomy' and thought that would be an option.
[glow=blue,2,300]my VTR is only 4 weeks old and over 3000km's on the clock[/glow] ;D

the stock sound is ok, but seeing as im still short on the dollars AU. I couldn't stand the stock sound for to long, I went the Partial Baffelectomy : just drilled 8 x 8mm holes around the end plates. from behind it still looks orginal, but it has changed the note enough to pacifiy me till Santa comes in December AS for Stews .... fart in wet shorts comment ? I know of a gpx 250 that drowned us both out last fri..... now that was [glow=red,2,300]Very Embarasing[/glow]

Something to do with such high revs needed to stay in front....... for about 1/2 a k , till we both thought F**k this. And just a small fact he had NO baffle at all , bar the end plates

Bob is right. It is indeed a scary sounding 250 however a little offensive to follow when you are straddling a fine V-twin as Bob and I were.

Have done the bafflectomy and boy is it loud!!! But it does run better as well. Less back-firing. Will get some new pipes one day, but until then it will do.

I wonder if they would be interested in a great discount if we bought in bulk Maybe if we can get a few riders together we could do it? I for one would love some carbon yoshies on the storm ;D

I had the baffle's taken out of mine originally, sounded pretty good after the standard sound, but a little "tinnie" & "raspy"...also lost a bit of bottom end power... good for the price though... Had it done thru CycleCity in Blakehurst...$500.00 exchange, Ya give 'em your pipes an' they give you some with with the work already done.... Your pipes must be in good nick though Down side is you don't have the originals should the cops come knocking...& has anyone seen the cost of replacement originals...
