After reading an article by Sir Alan about the Elf GP racer back in the 80's, I became very interested in funky chassis/frame designs. Forks always seemed to be a compromise. I even toyed with the idea of getting a wrecked K100 BMW and making my own front end which attached directly to the engine but the engineering required was way over my head.
This is another reason that I like the storm. The way the engine is used as the main member is the way all bikes should be I reckon. Dukes have used it as a stressed member for years but the swingarm is still attached to the main frame. If you have to have a big chunk of metal (engine) in your bike, why not make full advantage of its inherent strength?
