26/10/2009 Fresh off the Spirit of Tasmania and down to St Kilda for a heart-starter coffee, but while I was waiting for the cafes to open, a photo-op presented itself...

yeah computer rendered using photomatrix a HDR image made from 3 different shades. hence you see everything in detail, exhaust shine and background clouds, reflection in mirrors.

Bad Taste is my middle name.... next dry day off, I'm off to the Broad Arrow Cafe, watch this space.
Matter of fact, i was supposed to take my wife there for lunch on my GSXR1100 on that fateful day but my Mrs had stuff to do and it got later and later. I was in two minds to go riding alone, but decided not to. Then I started hearing sirens going down the Arthur Highway, and the radio was reporting multiple shootings, but it wasn't till that night we realised the full implications of what was going on. A very sad day for Tasmanians.....
Maybe I should take back the names I called her at the time.

You get lucky sometimes. My sister and brother-in-law were booked for the on the beach hotel in Thailand where the tsunami hit, for the day after! You know the one that gets wiped out in all the footage. We were sitting there watching TV the morning before they were to leave watching it happen in disbelief. Off topic... sorry.

Very cool indeed, Good to see that you were not in Christchurch. Those guys have my sympathy, glad there were few casualties there.
