This winter weather reminds me of all my crashes. Damn my body hurts . So far two head ons with motor cars (land cruiser and wrx) both on my side of the road. T- boned a car chucking a u turn in front of me. 120kph highside after wheel bearing collapsed (hospital for 2 weeks and leg brace for 8) a huge front flip when a dog ran out in front of me whilst doing 80kph and a couple of soft low sides in the rain. And I cant remember how may times I came off during my brief amateur road race career but I did crash three times in one race and still finished 3rd. All this and I have only been riding on the road 14years.

HAHA. this thread makes me feel so much better about myself. I've had 2 this year. Start of the year I collided with an SUV (mostly my fault) and broke both arms. last week I put it into a ditch at around 100. (I was doing more like 160 but I got a bit of breaking in) wearing shorts and a tshirt and no socks. (idiot, never again) I got bloody lucky, landed in mud dislocated my shoulder an a bit of bark off. on the plus side it meant I could finally get that Firestorm I'd always wanted.

20 years and still upright, but once in a while I get lucky.... Last time I stopped riding for a bit was after a 4x2 jumped out of the back of a ute in front of me and it tumbled and spun in front of me. Sheer luck that it missed me. Add it to the experience list..... Give all open trailers (dump trucks, trailers, uses) 10 car lengths where possible. !
Also ran over the tail of a kangaroo and took a bit of fur from its back in my foot peg..... Lesson, reposition biased toward centre of road for max avoidance potential if I have to be riding at night or dusk in roo area.
The main thing is every time you see a close call, don't blow it off as a stupid driver or unlucky event - Reflect and think what could you change to lessen the chance of it happening again.
Don't go faster than you can stop, share experiences with each other !

Nearly got knocked of my bike yesterday by an old guy in a Hyundai Getz.
I bored the horn and took evasive action, and still he was oblivious .
At the next set of lights I motioned for him to wind his window down and told him what had happened.
He said he didn't see me, but I shore saw him the stupid old fool, no blinker and ducking inside cars from the outside lane.
40 years with a license has taught me to never trust anyone to do the right thing.
It was close, bloody close!!!
I am getting a better horn for next time.
I said to the old guy what if he had hit me, then he would have seen me.
Off he goes oblivious to the world and other people.
Remember, always expect the unexpected and you might give yourself a better chance, always look for an escape route and be prepared to take it.
42 bikes and no crashes on the road yet!!
Could be luck, but have had some close calls.
