Installed my rebuilt forks some tuning to do tomorrow and sag when I get home. That little brass nipple will have a heap of time next time you sync...

Had a manual cct go bad. Bent 2 valves . fitting some new valves shave both heads . valve job on existing valve's.. New springs and seals.. And most of all MANUALS!!! WHILE I have the top end apart I'm gunna polish out side of rims and fit decals. Tires . new chain and sprockets. When she is back running. Tune and jet carbs. Open to suggestions on what jets to fit. And then go for a long well deserved ride.. ~~~~ LIVING THE DREAM!!! ~~~

Ouch, that must have been a disapointing realisation. How did the manual go bad? Did it unwind? I check mine every now and again. I put a nail polish mark (Ha ha, no not mine) on a side of the bolt head on each one that I remember which way it faces so that if it does unwind I should be able to see. ...And, always listening to the motor....

Dynojet do a good kit.
Does your bike still have the PAIR system and canister?
If so ditch it, there is plenty of info on the forum about it.
Good luck with it all. One good thing is that you will get to know your bike better through this experience.

Put that little brass nipple in the front cylinder head to fit some hose. "Teed" off the existing vacuum hose - to balance the carbs. Wow, even with the airbox off its a PITA to get in and tighten that little brass bastard to any degree. I just put some gasket crap on the thread and tightened it up best I could. Then made a ball bearing "comparator" guage with some tubing and a couple of ball bearings from my old busted ass beach basher Kmart pushie front wheel.(Knew I kept it around for a reason) While I had the airbox out, thought I'd clean the the K&N.....then it dawned on me where the oil in the airbox was coming from. DOH! Then took it out for a flog. Does it go any better? Hmmmm Maybe. I think the overrun burble is sweeter and that's important! Oil in the airbox will be from the breathers. Every bike I have had gets it.

I just assumed that. Because it seemed to be coming from nowhere in particular and as I was applying the oily crud to the filter I thought that was the answer. I should have got some paper towel to check the colour.

As they dont have a vacuum PCV system the oil in the air from the motor has to go somewhere. But in saying that if its heaps of oil you have a problem. My other bikes have had a drain to empty the airbox.

Painting my wheels and fitting new chain and sprockets. I have been on this for about 3 weeks so far. I am leaving the spokes black and hope they look alright. If they do I will call them my Michael wheels in honour of the late great! I hope they look alright, am about to apply the 4th coat. Pics of my hard labour. Wheels off ready to go, Masked up ready to rubbed back, Etch primed and rubbed back ready for first coat, First of 4 coats, rubbed back in between all coats with 800 wet and dry, Will rub back with 800, then 1200, then 2000 for final before fitting new tyres. In the meen time have split and removed chain and front and rear sprockets in preparation for new ones. Couldn't believe the amount of crap behind the front sprocket when I removed it. Have fitted the new front sprocket and cleaned up the cases. Just like new!

White rims with black spokes and hubs.
The late great Michael said"It don't matter if your black or white"
I hope it works for these wheels.
If it don't no biggy.
If it looks shithouse I will still ride the Storm and paint the wheels white when it's time to fit a new set of hoops.
I enjoy it sooooo much.
I have been riding some other bikes lately and frankly I enjoy the Storm more.
What a great all round bike, and it's got character in bucket loads.
Will post pics and seek opinions when finished!!!

Fitted new rear sprocket to the carrier. Getting impatient now, weather has been cold and it's held me up. Almost done the fit new Cush rubbers and chain and I'll be back in business!

Last time I rode it the indicators had stopped working altogether and teh switch felt really sticky. So this morning I pulled apart my indicator switch block and cleaned it out with WD40 and an old toothbrush. Then I took it for a quick 40 minute run. The indicators work perfectly now.

Hey binny are they hard to pull apart? Mine take about 20 seconds to fire up but after a while they are fine but I would like for them to work instantly if I can

Nah mate it's not very difficult. Just undo 2 screws to split the switch block into its 2 halves. Manoeuvre it off the bar to give yourself better access. Then undo another 2 screws to remove the metal cover plate to reveal the insides of the switch. I pulled the switch lever out and drowned the whole lot in WD40 and scrubbed with a toothbrush. I also worked the switch plungers in and out after I sprayed them. The switch moves so easily now the difference is amazing. And there's no more delay before the indicators start flashing.

Perfect thanks.....I had it off the bar but then backed off when I saw the inside. Thought better to ask than destroy a perfectly good switch block.

Forks out a few days ago to do a bit of fine tuning on the springs and lighter oil this week...
Maybe some EBC Brake Pads while I'm at it.... wish I could afford EBC Rotors. Anyone use the cheap Chinese Rotors??? other recommendations would be handy.

Mate of mine did on his TRX850, they seemed o.K!
I fitted them for him and there were no probs.
They were the wavy type and looked good.

Painted forks back in and front wheel almost done! Just need to feather withe paint where it joins the polished lip. Back wheel ready for final paint. Have to work for the next 11 days so will take my time ! I'm thinking that I will get the new tyres fitted and feather the paint with the wheels on the bike.

You'll notice a difference. The improvement is substantial. I had to grind mine to get them to fit. I also painted them and removed the Nissin branding and polished that section. I think they look good and when you compare them to the originals you will understand why they are so much better. I regularly ride 2 other bikes that have Brembo and believe it or not I prefer the upgraded CBR 600 calipers because of the extra 34% pad area. They have a very progressive feel even with the original M/C that a lot of people change. Works for me!

Yeah staying with original M/C because of that feel but cannot wait for them to go on. Just need to find pads. Any places that you would recommend.
I have painted mine satin black to match the forks and I have highlighted the Nissin branding by painting it red.....might keep it may not just depends what it looks like on the bike.
