The set I got had very little wear on the pads so I kept them.
I am guessing that they are original as they were off a very low Klms write off!
Post some pics when you get them on .

The subject line being "What have you done"...... I'd have to say, other than ride it daily almost, as it is my main commute to work......"not much at all, other than wash it, and change oil and filters regularly"...... Last Sunday I finally connected with Jay [ Jason ] Morrison, whom some will recall had purchased a number of sets of manual cam chain tensioners, and was willing and able to fit, free of any charge over and above the cost of the CCT's. All the proceeds of the exercise were going towards the help and rehab of a mate who had had an accident. Well I must say, it was a pleasure to meet Jay and his family, and to watch a guy who not only takes immense pride in his talent as a mechanic, but is also a VTR Firestorm fanatic, and very knowlegable on our favourite two wheeled weapons. Jays mellow yellow VTR is a site to behold, a very balanced blend of pearl yellow duco, mixed with genuine carbon fibre body components and trim, and a lot of hours of polishing of the aluminium frame and its attachments. I had a great afternoon and look forward to nurturing a great VTR relationship. PS. Jay's lovely lady makes a rippa toasted ham and cheese sanga.....!! Cheers to all.... Mark

Just unplugged and removed indicators front and rear, number plate is off, front and rear lights disconnected (undecided weather to bother with removing them), fluids changed and started looking around for rear sets. Pillion pegs will come off on the weekend when I get a few new bolts and I'll black out the headlight I think. Mirrors are off and I'll be ordering some blanking plates soon. Ran out of rego last weekend and will now serve its life out as a track bike.... I gotta stay off the road.
Anyone else turned their storm into a tracky? I was going to go all out with race glass, removing everything not needed and get some engine work done but I'm going to just keep it cheap and work with what I've got I think. It's already got a great suspension setup so with a little more clearance, should be apples.

The bike came with bugger all rego and I bought it with the intention of making this decision one way or another once it ran out. I wasn't sure if I could do without the road but with some near misses, a couple of guys going down, having fun at the track and having so much fun riding in the dirt it was the only way to go. I sold my CBR1000rr and bought a dirt bike to keep off the road at the start of the year because for one I need my licence for work and two, I have a distinct issue with sticking to the speed limit. I ended up missing the track and being able to go for a fang so I bought the storm (very cheaply) so if it came to it, I could let the rego expire and still get to the track on a low budget thumper or have a fun roady. I've had that voice in the back of my head for a little while now, almost like the universe telling me to stay off the road you know? I've got more than enough riding to do without worrying about the shit that goes with road riding... I know no riding is completely safe but this way I maximise my chances of keeping my job and minimise the risks.

I'm no expert on different tyres but I'd say they pull me up a bit quicker & I feel more confident pushing harder into corners

It's grille mesh.
Got it from Autoban and cut it and shaped it to fit.
Also have it in air intakes as well.
Easily remove able to clean the head light and acts as a stone protector as well.

Well a few months ago after almost 20000kms on the Michelins it was well overdue for new rubber. Pirellis were on special so I pickup Diablo Super Corsa for the front and Diablo Rosso Corsa for the rear. Had the 90 degree tyre vales thrown in...so much easier at the air pump. The combination seemed ok but I hadn't had the chance for any longish rides until yesterday. The bike as now just clicked over 43500kms so I teed up with Jay Morrison to supply and install the Kreiger MCCT's. The best thing was getting to his place. We rode from Boronia to Pakenham via Rowville, Lysterfield, Narre Warren etc (keeping to the hills and some twisty bits). No dramas with the Pirellis.....all good. Jay gets to ride this road most days to and from work.....my ride to work is Templestowe, Heidelberg, Ring Rd, Thomastown.... Anyway getting back to 'What has been done to the Storm'.... This guy is good, he can work on these bikes with his eyes shut. After installing the MCCT's and checking and double checking everything he suggested that while the tank and carbys were off he would check the jets, valve clearance and balanced the carbys. and all this was done in the comfort of his garage. Also I have not had the 'low fuel' light working, thinking that it was a blown bulb. He found that it was a faulty 'sender'...so that's the next thing on the 'to do list'...cheers

Allow me to mod the title a little. What will I do to it soon. Well, weather has gotten cold up here, and riding season has come to a halt. So, it's time for winter projects as I watch the first few snow flakes fall. ( Yes, I'm in the northern hemisphere ) - Fix a few nicks on the side fairings (Bike took a spill from my work table ) - White carbon wrap - GIPro gear indicator - LED Light, but I've already done most of that. - Leo Vince high mounts That sums it up pretty much. I have a few months to do all this, so, so far no stress since I can't ride before mid March at the very soonest. Ah well, lets take out the snow sleds.

Forks out a few days ago to do a bit of fine tuning on the springs and lighter oil this week... Maybe some EBC Brake Pads while I'm at it.... wish I could afford EBC Rotors. Anyone use the cheap Chinese Rotors??? other recommendations would be handy. I am using some Chinese cheapo discs and they are fine. I initially thought i had a warped disc when they were first fitted but it was all good. Ultimately its just a piece of steel so i don't feel concerned about using Chinese ones. I have also seen them sold for more $ under the motion pro brand iirc.

Just back from a ride after fitting my jackflash thumb screws and a relocate of my coolant bottle.
Very easy to tune the pilot mixtures while on the run now.

I know others have used them also, without any issues, as long as it was street.

What have I done to my VTR? The list has grown enough over the months so I’ll put it up here; New tyres, sprockets , chain, Mccts, front end rebuild with springs and valves by Ride Dynamics, Brake lines, air filter baffle, removed pair system, screaming demon pipes, factory pro jet kit, rear suspension overhaul to match front end, LED headlight. To do list will be ; reupholster seat, Maybe silicon hoses, take it for a long ride when borders open. Steering head bearings,

Like Davo above I just bought my Storm/ Hawk in August and will be rebuilding the steed to new status. I've made the changes to a 16/ 43 setup using a 520 chain sprocket combo for better gearing. Purchased a rear shock with reservoir for my weight from DMr Performance Suspension and I'm sending them my forks for rebuild to them as well to be tailored to my weight.
It's a pretty long list and look forward to the build. Driving a big rig truck for 30 days at a time has me able to play with it 6 days out of a month though but it's worth it.
Just bought a used rear wheel yesterday and bought everything I need for it to be a direct swap for future track days. I'll be doing the same for the front so all I have to do is swap rims for the track and swap back to the street rims when putting around town. 🤷🏼♂️😉
