An idea from another thread. What bikes have we owned before our current steeds? For me it's........ 1990 GPX250 1992 CBR600 F2 2003 CBR954* 1998 VTR1000 Firestorm* As well as us having a 1995 CB250 in the mix when Jeanette was learning. ;D How about the rest of you? (* = bikes still owned) Back in 1883 or there-abouts started with an XS1100, or at least I think that's what it was. Also ran around on XJ900 shortly thereafter. Didn't own another thing until 2004 then it was ZZR250 (I still don't know WHY!!) 2004 moved to ZZR600 then 2006 CBR600F then 2008 VTR1000 - not moving from here until they carry me off!

Started with an Aprilia RS 125 for L's & P's. Then a GPz900 . . . went fast but cornered like a barge. Then a short break and the chance to sample a variety of machinery (4's, twins, Triples, Jap, Italian, US and more) before settling on the VTR as the best compromise for my daily needs . . .

1976 Suzuki TS 125 trailie. Enuff said... well it was my first bike. 1977 Honda CB 400F.... I was on P plates when they brought in the 250 law, just squeezed past. 1978-1980 Kawasaki Z 650... Bought new, then Mr Yoshimura helped make it a real weapon. 1979- Suzuki GT250X7 Track Bike. Was going to race it, but I got drafted to sea for a couple of years and Yamaha released the RD250LC rendering it totally obsolete. Owned it for a year and never got to ride it. 1980-1985 Kawasaki Z1000H... First of the Fuel Injected Jap bikes very rare, very fast. 1985-1991 Honda CB1100R I still dream about this bike. Saw one win the Castrol 6 hour, then in the crate at my local dealers...fell in love. Took it home. Took it twice around the clock, 2 engines and three rebuilds, and a Kangaroo later.......... 1991-1999 Suzuki GSXR1100M OMG what a bike. Dumbest thing I ever did was to sell it. I still regret selling it to this day, and woud seriously consider selling the storm if I saw it for sale... 2004- 1988 Yamaha FZ750. Track Bike. 3 practice days 1 race meeting.... one second place, three fourths and a ride in an Ambulance with broken Shoulder and Collarbone and 8 weeks off work. (took off the head and put on the pumpkin) . 2009 Honda VTR 100F. I'm Back, and doing it in style. (although the old leathers are a bit tight, must've shrunk)...... I'll shut up now.

PJ, got any pics of the GT750, 550, or the T500? Yeah, somewhere...just sold the house, settling the sale halfway through November, so there'll be a chance to go through all the stacks of unsorted photos. I'd better take a few of the current shed inhabitants, as well. Someone asked months ago for me to post a pic of the CB77. Here's me on the standard TZ750. This is the actual machine that Mr Hailwood rode in preparation for his return to racing in the late 1970s: And some black road bikes from the shed:

The RE is Indian, as is my 2003 one, the latter being "adventure-ised". My '51 RE Bullet racer, is, of course, English. Here's the adventure Bullet, with a couple of friends: The Varadero's in that pic, too, so there's a VTR connection, with the motor being the same as the VTR's...

I'm still such a n00b to riding 2007 - CBR125 r (did 11,000 kms on her before I got too sick of redlining her and ditched it) 2008 - FZX250. Thought her bikini fairing was fugly and I was into cafe racers, so ditched her chopper bars, fairings etc and cafe racered it with a bar from Z Power. Also hassled my mate to give me his Spada headlight, and replaced the indicators etc. Now looking to sell her (anyone wanna buy a good, short arse lams bike? ;D) 2009 - Bought my Firestorm. 1 more month till I can ride her

1998: purchased KLR650
2001: purchased Triumph Sprint RS
2002: purchased Kawasaki ZX9R (traded in the Sprint)
2004: purchased Kawasaki z1000 (traded in the zx9 and KLR)
2008: purchased a '97 VTR1000 after my z1000 got stolen
2009: purchased another '02 ZX9R after my VTR got stolen
Of all of them, the z1000 was my favourite, esp. as I had it fitted with Ohlins suspenders and a wicked-sounding Leo Vince pipe set.
The Sprint was an amazing long-haul bike (Canberra - P.I. on one refuel). Handled like a bathtub though. Fuel range was astounding. Most comfortable bike I've ever ridden.
The VTR was the best-sounding bike of all. Had woolf pipes. It was remarkably good at long-haul work. Very comfy and a relaxed vibe.
I wish I still had it, even though it was completely unsuited to my riding style (go in hard on brakes, blast out). My ZX9R is much better for me, but bloody hell I still miss that VTR. There was just something about it.
