A couple of dirt bikes: yz80 125 something 250 something else ( some little step through thing
Before parents knew I had a bike.... RG250 bought off Barry Sheen and then drop a young Scott Doohan home only to have his Brother Michael take my new bike for a ride most of which he did on the back wheel. (He was a GOD even back then) RD250 signed by Mick Doohan on the petrol tank a something 650turbo (dropped and sold before mum found out I had it) 91 900SS (I think.... white frame anyway for those that know) 91 RGV250 with pink bits and a banana swing arm. CBR250 and my First Blade 919(stolen) 97 GSXR600 (Parents finally found out I own a motor bike) 2000 Blade* (Because Honda brought out HISS so not as likely to get stolen) 2004 VTR*

3 bikes all up, but 2 of them are basically the same...
1. 1989 model GS500E. Rebuilt the engine myself, then the shocks died so... 2. 2000 model GS500. What can I say, great bikes! Still on my P's back then so nothing bigger for me. Test rode dozens, then tried... 3. 2002 model VTR1000F. Never looked back!! Bought the sucker early '04 with 16000 k's on it, now up over 42000 and going strong!!!

um,... let's see,.. - rg250 ('82?) - bag of shoit
- gsx250f ('93) - one of those across things, too complicated for a 250
- gsx750 ('95) - good tourer, surprisingly quick. underrated
- cbr600 ('99) - fun, but like a pocket bike when i'm sat on it
- zx9r ('96) - great donk, bit of a tank tho
- vtr1000f ('97) - a revelation, the perfect bike for this stage of my journey, probably for ever
- vtr1000f ('06) - sigh,... you know sometimes i go outside just to look at it,...
- vtr1200f ('08) - im in. so long as honda don't go all "z1/fz1" muscle bike style on it, that would suck

Here's my bike history, '71 CB175. First bike. Bought it for $400 at 15. Came off this bike at 100k+, head first. Roadbikes don't jump well, lesson learned '92 DR250. Bought it as a wreck, was my brothers bike. Rebuilt and registered it. This bike was fun. I was sliding everywhere on this bike before Motard existed ;D '94 ZZR 250. First registered roadie. This bike served me well, road it to death. Snapped a conrod at 14,000 rpm@180kph. I sensed/heard something amiss, luckily I pulled the clutch just before it snapped. '86 GPZ750R. Still miss this one. Ended up writing it off into a car. Cars hurt. Lost the bike, cager did a runner. Took me about 6 mths to recover, yet remained bikeless for 4 years:( '05 VTR1000F. First bike I've ever bought new. Great bike in general, I do everything with it. Commuting, touring, twisties, drag racing.

Honda 70cc three wheeler (circa early 80's) Suzuki A100 - paddock basher 1997 Yamaha YZF600R Thundercat - got shrtened by a retard in a commodore wagon thinking it would be a good idea to drop a u-turn in front of me!! 2001 VTR1000F - Yehaa, love that sweet note... Fairly short history, but sent a few misspent years tearing up the roads in tintops. (I miss the XW!! )

I miss the XW!! I looked at buying a full matching numbers XW GT in 1995, it was stripped ready for a rebuild and then the guy lost heart. I checked all the serial numbers myself which were right, and the extra brackets and stuff the GT's had, and it was all original. He wanted $5000 for it and I didn't buy it. Back then you could get a good one for $13-15K, and this one needed a lot of work. Wish I had it now. That $5k would have been money well spent.

Yeah, possibly even a bit more. Phase 3 XY's attract triple figure prices now, and the other GT's go down in price from there.

Good thread! First bike - CZ175 2 stroke single - about 1974 (I was 17) - Dad wanted me to buy new, so I could only afford crap (gearbox packed in after 6 mths). CB250 parallel twin- a tatty example, didn't last long but gave me a broken arm. 1976 - bought a CB400/4 new and sold in 1981 for a used Moto Guzzi 850T. Married 1982, Guzzi sold before. CB550/4 bought to commute on as 1st car was a heap. Sold the 550 about 1987 - not riding enough and not half the bike the Guzzi was. Caught the bug again when I collected my 2003 FS from Eurotune in Queanbeyan TODAY ! Now I just need to learn about riding a superbike...

the FS is a pleasure to ride mate, calm and subtle when you are, and pulls like sh1t out of shanghi when you want it to...
1: yamaha virago 250 #tsktsk# lasted about a month 2: Kawasaki zzr 250 #wink# 3: VTR 100 Firestorm #vhappy#
i reckon the zzr was a great learner bike... and the VTR is the other love in my life

[/quote late last year i sold my phs 3 XY GT replica, after 4 long years of blood, sweat, nearly some tears, and a sh*t-load of cash, about $16k. was a helluva tough falcon tho. nicely finished off in silver fox paint and black GT stripes, a real head-turner. i miss it now, but some lad on the gold coast bought it off me and transported it back. hopefully he's taking care of her.

About time I listed mine. Powerhouse Yamaha DT175, flogged to death Yamaha TT250, seized the engine, then reborne as a 320 Yamaha TT600 Belgarda, Blew the gearbox up out the back of Walcha and smashed the cases. Rebuilt and kept for a few years VTR1000 my first road bike and never looking back, tried to tell wife that I would buy sometghing with not much power for my first roadie. Told her it only looks fast!!

First bikes huh!
1. XR75 - which i managed to remember so well each time I see the scar on my leg from the pipe burn. 2. Suzuki 100 - Road 2-stoke, cannot even remember the model. 3. 1989 GSXF750 - Nice easy bike to continue learning on. 4. 2003 Ducati Monster 1000ie. Oh I did love this bike but went overseas so sold her after 2 years. 5. 2004 VTR1000 - Could not afford the Ducati again, so tried this model as I love V-Twin. Not dissapointed one bit. Dollar for dollar, as many big grins as the Duc.....
