Welcome to this great forum.
this site was set set up10 years ago by Andy and his team and has and will continue to be a great source of information for the VTR Firestorm. Many great friends have been made while on this forum through great feedback, weekends away and normal weekend rides and I hope that this can continue also.
Please feel free to post your questions, ride events, pictures etc and if you can assist with any information you may have on a certain subject please post your answers up as this will make for a far better experience for all users.
We look forward to hearing from you soon and hope that you enjoy the forum and meet new and interesting people with a common interest.
Thanks VTRStormer Admin john1972@iinet.net.au

Mate thank you so much for the very kind words. With a little bit of help from all the good members and new members that join this site will go on. Andy and his team have invested far too much time to let this die.
Thanks again and maybe see you round

Hi to all,I've just purchased a 2001 firestorm, dark blue.Moved up from FZR600 1990.Due to weather& massive road works I've only been on it once! Last owner out harder springs in front so I found it very rough from the tame old fzr.So, have to say it was a short, rough& scary ride...only just got off p's.Waiting for a good day to try again...can someone help me love my beautiful new bike. Are they all hard riding? Hate to admit it but I'm oldish & female....& no, I'm not getting a postie bike.Cheers.

Welcome & congrats on the VTR. If you mean by rough the way the motor runs, well that's a V twin for you, not turbine smooth like the IL4 you have just come from. V twins have "character" and it tends to grow on you - some more than others! As for the stiffer forks, that is what plenty do as the originals area bit soft. What led you to the storm?

Hi mate there is a Mods section on the main page. You ask there or just in the general section and someone will assist. Have you tried the search function yet as your questions may already be answered. Great to have you on board

Hello All, Thanks for the forum. I've just bought an 02 Firestorm in Perth WA. I rode it home (150km) and it went really well. Really enjoy the torque and not having to wring its neck. Handling is excellent - although the suspension's a little too hard for some of the crap roads I have to ride on. Never owned a watercooled bike before so it'll be interesting... I'm sure Ill be visiting regularly as my relationship with the bike develops.

Hello Everyone, Firstly, thank you to the founders and mods for this forum, an excellent resource and community hub. I have just bought a 2001 Firestorm (on 4th September 2014 with 24K on the clock, with the OEM Blue paintwork). It wasn't a terrible deal, and I hadn't really considered a V-Twin until I got to maybe 60ish and shuffled on into the cruiser market, ha ha. BUT...........What a blast! If you fail to get a grin on one of these then it is highly likely that you are clinically dead and should consult a mortuary immediately, It certainly takes a little adjustment to adapt to the lower revs (came from a 2000 VFR800 V4 so not that terrible, a 2004 Kawasaki Z750 i4 before that). I've found that once you get your head around surfing the torque curve rather than chasing top pend it really is a great bike to ride. Certainly dead easy to handle, even with the rather, well, budget suspension. But my VFR was no different, early 2000's it was common for Honda, and the rest of the big 4 to cheap out in that area. I'll probably go the heavier front springs and oil route, minimise the air gap, possibly Hyperpro or Nitron Sport shock (weight matched to me) on the rear, and do the 6 mil shim at the rear too, more tip in would certainly help handling. Anyway, that's enough rambling from me. Nice to meet you all, and keep the shiny side up! Cheers....

Feel free to post any questions and answer anything can assist with . It's a great little forum and a very friendly community. Has your bike had all the preventative maintenance measures taken care of such as cct's and rectifier?

Hi vfrstormer, thank you for the welcome. I haven't had the covers off to see if the cct's have been done, no rattles at the moment but the engine does have wreckers part number scrawled on the back of the crankcase, as do several other parts, so I think it has been a coblled together repair jon. Engine feels strong enough, but I plan on getting the cct's done with manual ones anyway. I do miss the gear driven cams on the Viffer, maybe I need an SP1, ha ha. The reg/rec is standard Honda, finned item though. I'll replace with a Rick's Motorsport MOSFET job, did the same on my Viffer, top bit of kit, MOSFET circuitry keeps the little bugger cool all day long. It's in need of a service that's for sure, carbs could do with a clean and balance, throttle cables need replacing too. A fair bit to do, but definitely a bike worthy of saving, it's a lot of fun and I like the style. Considering the twin headlight unit I also found being made by a guy in NZ, pricey though at about $700 AUD.

Hi Everyone,
Just like to introduce myself and say how glad I am I found this Forum!
I grew up dirt bikes, moved to the city, commuted on an Suzuki Across, got married, had kids, haven't owned a bike since.
About 12 months ago I had my first real Venture into road bikes when I bought a 11/03 firestorm. Carbies jetted, dyno tuned, after market leo vince exhaust, low kms. Went for test ride and rode home on it! 6000kms later; it has the economy of a NASA Rocket but it has to be the most fun I have had with my pants on!
As I said I'm still a student as far as road bikes go so any help will be appreciated.
When I get a chance I will put a photo up, there are some after market side racks I would like to put a luggage rack on, hopefully someone can identify them. They look like ventura racks with a short grab handle instead of a pack rack frame? No brand or markings on them? Hard to explain, photo will help.
Thanks.

Welcome aboard. These are heaps of fun to ride and sound fantastic with any non OEM pipe. There's a few reliability mods they need but overall a good value fun machine these days.

Hi Vtr riders Purchased my Vtr new in 2005 in cairns and now moved back to Sydney a few years ago. I ride to work each day and love the v twin. I have been riding since 17 and have just pasted 55 so have a few years under the belt... Both my wife and I ride the bike but she prefers to double up since moving back to Sydney. We live in the Penrith area and would like to know about any day rides happening ... Blessing to all and ride safe
