Ok, so not much has been happening in the last week or so. So in need of some progress, i decided that some cleaning was on the cards. I started with the swingarm as this was by far the dirtiest! After 1/2 can of WD40, a tooth brush and some elbow grease..... Was happy with today's progress, and on Tuesday ill be visiting pirtek with the oil cooler hoses/pipes as im sick of looking at them and want to get some oil back in the big girl!! I will post some pics on here when i get them done! OH OH OH and the tank is being repaired at the moment, hoping to have it back mid week....pics to follow

Ahhh, the beloved Honda PAIR system. Common mod to remove it, just get on the Superhawk forum for all the info you could ever want.

yeah thanks Ziggy, never really needed motivation, just some spare time (whats that?) but there has been small amounts of progress in between everything else. I had been repairing the tank over the last few weeks. There were a few dents that were noticeable before i started rubbing it back, but once i removed the tank pad and Honda stickers there were around a dozen more small dents. So after a few weeks of "in between" rubbing back, i spray puttied and rubbed back again, and again, and again until all the little dents were gone. Then a few coats of undercoat, some more rubbing and a quick hit with steel wool it was ready to be matted. and then some matt after sitting back it on the bike, i thought i would drag the big girl out for some sunlight. and as mentioned in a previous reply, ive had to move house...so ive gone from a brick double garage to this not all bad though still a fair bit of room to get around and it is JUST for the KILRV so i guess it will do. More to come soon!

That's looking good! What type of gauges are you planning to use? I kept the original dash ($$$ decision) but lately have been looking at a digital dash and smaller light setup. Acewell units are popular. There is a tiny little unit (I cant remember the name, Minimoto or something) that is easy to read apparently and comes with idiot lights if required. Keep the pics coming.

So after some more research on the PAIR mod (thanks Shayne) and after a few clicks on the much loved Ebay, there is now a pair of block off plates on there way to OZ. so now with that decision made, parts ordered.... i started removing all the unwanted hoses and valve to free up room for my next idea......front coil! after removing that valve from the underside of the lower half of the airbox there was more than enough room to mount my front coil. Atfer a bit of thinking and pondering on it and With me keeping every nut/bolt/bracket/washer etc etc i used an original rear coil bracket from my old subframe, and an old fairing bracket of some sort i removed at at some stage (i think). End result was not to bad, all that is left to do is extend the plug but this wont be done until the front end is sorted. just waiting on the plates to arrive now. More to come soon

Yeh the front coil has been on my mind for a while now. It would be easy to relocate it to under the seat, but the plug lead would need to be 1m long! I dunno what to do with mine, but it's ugly were it is.

I may be wrong, but I have a hunch that the plug lead cannot be separated from either the cap or coil. It has been a few years since I stuffed around with mine, so my memory may be off, but it may not be simple to get a longer lead.

sorry guys, i was talking about the plug that goes into the wiring loom not onto the spark plug, i have more than enough to make it to the plug, but the 2pin plug for the loom needs to be cut and extended. Im not going to do this until i decide on a front end. hope this makes more sense?

AAAHH, so where you've mounted the coil, the plug lead will still reach the plug. Very good. Like I said before, I never mucked around with mine 'cause I thought it would require a longer plug lead. hhhmmm got me thinking about it again!

not really a better pic, but you can see the hole (which was already there) i just opened it up a bit more with a small hole saw to fit lead through. All that is left to do is tidy up hole and maybe try and get a body grommet or something similar for it? the hole where i mounted the bracket had a small breather hose for the back carby going through it, i just ran it under the carby bracket...easy Im hoping that there will not be to much heat or anything else that may affect it? if so i might even make a small plate and put between bracket and carby bracket to sheild it? hope this makes sense

Well again not too much been happening, ive had to spend a few $$$ on my car recently which kind of restricted the spending on the KILRV. I did manage though to sneak in a few goodies.. First click was on the Delkevic eBay store to source a radiator. The chosen donor was off 1999-2002 SV650, and with a few minor mods it should fit perfectly. Second item on the list was the P.A.I.R mod plates. And finally with a bit of luck won this off the good ol auction site we all love So with not much time available, i managed to tinker a little and got the plates on (this makes room now for the radiator) the rear is the same so i didn’t take a pic of it. i also played around with the cowl, seems like a pretty neat fit...now just to paint it hope to get a bit more done real soon, so stand by for some more pics

Yeah a bit like that ziggy, every time something gets done i get a little more excited ;D A little more progress today with the radiator going in, ive worked out how to mount it using the old oil cooler mounting bracket now i just need to get L/H outlet (90deg) chopped off and a straight outlet in its place, a few extra brackets removed and a coat of paint and its ready to stay there. Ive also worked out that i can use two L/H hose's (Thermostat to radiator) they are a perfect fit with R/H only needing to be shortened an inch or so. Ill be dropping the radiator in this week to the radiator shop and hope to have it done by the end of the week so i can finish mounting it on the weekend and cross it off my to do list (which somehow is getting bigger not smaller ) any way here is some pics... hope you like

Don't forget to get a radiator guard for that. I've seen some front-facing radiators taken out by stones. Can be expensive and fugging inconvenient.

Jeez that looks real close to the forks. I presume you have checked clearances when the forks are compressed?

Yeah mate, def have them on my list..cheers hey Revhead, pics are real decieving (or could be my lack of photography skills) there is quite a bit of room between radiator and forks, but yeah will continue checking along the way.

Make sure you've left enough clearance for the forks to compress and the wheel/gaurd to "come up". I know from experience what happens when you land the front a bit hard and the gaurd/radiator come into contact Russ
